do you think they will take him and build around him or try to make a run with peyton for the next year or two. If peyton is healthy of course. I am sure colts manangement knows if Peyton is going to be ok or not.

#3There is no guarantee that Andrew Luck is going to be star....the experts hit and miss like the rest. I personally would trade the pick (if I know Peyton is healthy) to re-tool the team and possibly get RGIII to be Peyton's understudy. There are teams out there that would kill for the pick such as Arizona, Buffalo. Miami. Washington, or Seattle? The Colts have the luxury of looking at all options, and unless they're brain dead they can't lose in the dealComment -

i like this idea. do what the celtics did with bird and draft barkley a year before he enters the draft. that way no one can draft him next year.
but seriously you have to draft luck. hes the best qb prospect since elway. peyton aint coming back from a serious neck injury, even if he does, one hit and hes gone.
i pity any team that wastes a 1st rd pick on rg3... bigger bust than andre ware.Comment -

#17There's no guarantee for any of them. I remember the Mel Kiper stroking of Jimmy Claussen as the best "Pro" ready QB in the draftWe've heard that a hundred times over...so Luck has all the Press, but that don't mean squat. The Colts are going to have to listen to all the offers, because they're going to come. I remember when Ditka gave up the whole New Orleans draft to get Ricky Williams....so someone will try to pry the pick away from Indy

2004 NFL Draft
The San Diego Chargers originally held the rights to the overall first pick in the 2004 NFL Draft due to their 4-12 record in 2003. With Manning being the most coveted player in the draft, it appeared that the Chargers' intentions were to draft him first overall. However, Manning (echoed by his father Archie) stated publicly that he would refuse to play for the Chargers if drafted by them. The Chargers selected him with the first pick overall nonetheless as the team had a deal in place with the New York Giants, whereby the Giants would draft and then trade Philip Rivers and draft picks (used to select Shawne Merriman and Nate Kaeding) to the Chargers for Manning.
if he doesnt want to play for them he will not play for them. they are going to end up trading luck away.Comment -

#25It all is going to come down to Manning's health. If I were Colts I take Luck and either keep both guys or if Manning's health is iffy, release him as his contract is virtually impossible to trade.Comment -

#26I'm in Indy and from what I hear...they're going to see how Peyton looks in March when his big $27 mil bonus is due. Either way they're planning to draft Luck. They can see how Manning performs health wise next year and either keep Luck if Peyton doesn't hold up or trade him down the road if Manning is looking good to go for another 3 years.Comment -

#27Andrew Luck is so much more of a character guy than Eli Manning it isn't even funny and the Chargers should have followed through and drafted Eli anyway. If Luck comes out he will gladly go wherever he is picked.Comment -

#31I never understood why Eli wanted New York over San Diego but that doesn't mean a guy has less character if they have the power to decide where they want to go. Teams cut people loose and wipe out their dreams all the time so if a player has some power then feel free to use it. Go ask Kyle Orton about the character of an organization. He's been fired twice because some idiots thought Rex Grossman and Tim Tebow were better than him.Comment -

mel is the brandon lang of draft analysis.
if barkley had declared i could see colts trading down and getting him plus 1st rd pick but not rg3 or anyone else. luck has the tools to become a great qb and i would wager anyone he will be a top 10 qb in 3-5 years.Comment -

in which case i say trade him to the raiders for 17 first round picksComment
