I would say the best would be a Dell Vostro Series they run about $450.

What's "a lot"? Big difference in laptops when talking $199 and $399.

I started a thread like this couple months ago. Search it. Toshibas are a good starting point.

Depends on what you want it for. I only use my laptop anymore for browsing internet, email, shopping, and paying bills. If that's all you need it for, $199 would probably work for you....but I'd pay a little more.

They had some toshibas at walmart for like 339 last I saw.

If all you wanna do is place bets and browse....check out the kindle fire tablet. Probably work for those pretty well.

Toshiba's are the best. I have had dell hp , and now Toshiba. Nothing compares to them.

Not only that Toshibas telephone customer support is unbelievably good. You talk to someone literally with one touch, and you talk to someone within 30 seconds of calling.

If you buy the dell insurance however, their at home support is great. I had it for my laptop, i talked to them about my problem, the next day some mofo comes out and puts in a whole new mother board in 5 minutes.

I have an ASUS laptop and it has been nothing but headaches. Clock is constantly screwed up...had to change it twice today....it was showing up as 2009. Touch pad jumps all over the place when you're typing and there's a few more minor issues. I googled these problems and it's something that a lot of ASUS owners are experiencing. Don't fall for the Best Buy advice!
