Right now our country is going backwards economically. Taxes are raising and the money in peoples wallets is decreasing. Over the last few years and even further back it is clearly evident that the government is corrupt and does not know how to spend money. On the other hand big businesses are getting bigger by the day and keeping the country afloat. Occupy Wall Street is going on and I believe that the movement should move to Washington. I believe that the country was founded on capitalism policies where the smart and motivated can be successful with little taxes and government influences. Now though the government wants a say on everything that happens and is actually limiting the potential of some business owners as they can work less hard and pay less taxes yet make the same money as someone who puts a little bit more effort but then fall into a higher tax bracket. I come from the mindset of a big business owner and I believe in a set percent tax. I believe that the more money you can keep in the big business owners hands, the more businesses will expand, create jobs, and create increasing spending. I believe that with a major restructure of our tax system, our country can get back to our roots where capitalism reigns supreme. Forget bailouts, forget raising the debt ceiling....the main problem is the fact the U.S. dollar is decreasing and until we raise the value of the U.S. dollar our debt will continue to rise.

If your taxes have increased at all over the past 3-4 years .. no matter if you are a big business owner, a small business owner, or a regular employee of any kind .. you are doing it wrong .. taxes are at their lowest levels in a long, long time .. FOR EVERYONE ... which is a very big reason why the government debt is so high.
If you are paying a higher percentage in taxes now than you were when Obama took office .. i'd get yourself another accountant.Comment -

I am all about autonomy and preserving personal liberties--don't believe either of the parties represents my political leanings.
As to the argument as to whether taxes have gone up or not, it is important to recognize that politicians realize the word "taxes" carries negative connotations and so, other words have been coined to hide revenue raising policies and agendas. For example, where I live, they have what's called a value added service, which has resulted in homeowners being charged an extra fee for police services. No, I don't live in the boonies, but right in the middle of suburbia. Because the economy has recessed, which reduced tax revenues, rather than downsizing, politicians have become creative in finding news ways to take from those that have to fund existing programs.
As I have experienced, one thing is certain. Government has become bigger. Government is not cost-effective nor as efficient as private industry. Tax payers fund the government. The economy has recessed. A recessed economy means less tax revenues. If government programs have largely continued without mirroring reduced revenues, then either taxes have to increase or borrowing/printing money must occur to continue to fund them. Either way, it's bad news!

the answer is simple -
1 - cut taxes starting with the richest people as well as corporations, and then when they have more money they will start jobs with it.
2 - Eliminate medicaid and medicare completely - if people want to go to the doctor they are free to earn money to pay for it, if they can't afford to pay for it, then don't go to the doctor. Simple.
3 - Eliminate social security. If people want to retire, they are free to make money to retire with. No handouts if you didn't save gramps, sorry pal, I like to be greeted when I go to Walmart and that position has your name written all over it.
4 - Raise defense spending, I would double it. Keeps other countries doing what we want, and creates defense contractor jobs
5 - eliminate welfare completely. Welfare makes up 15% of our entire budget, and for what? To let lazy people be more lazy. Eliminate it and you have instantly cut spending by 15%
6 - drill for oil. no brainer. we need oil, we have oil, drill for it, get it, use it, no brainer

From 2004 to 2007 the tax revenue increased by $785 billion for the federal government alone. That's the largest 4 year gain in American history. That doesn't include the increase to the states. Also, after the tax cuts, the rich paid an even higher percentage of the tax burden. The highest in the last 40 years. However, it all got shot to shit because the spending went through the roof. Then the Democrats took over and the spending how gone up even higher. That's why you see groups like tea party spring up and saying to stop the spending. We are more than $15 trillion in debt right and it's just gonna keep going up with all the spending. The Republicans want this pay roll tax cut to be 1 year and they want it to be paid for. First off taxes are raising...the government wants more money so it can spend more money which the people like, but it is only a temporary solution. Obama is asking for an extra 1.2 trillion dollar increase to the debt ceiling. How do you think he plans on paying that off...higher taxes. The main problem I see is with 11% of spending going towards welfare and 18% going towards health care. Now this next statement is going to seem funny and very...well...I guess wrong. But use an open mind and if you black I'm sorry, this isn't just about you its also about white trailer trash. Obviously welfare and medicaid are directed heavily towards the poorer population. This poorer population also happens to have more kids than most because they know they can get extra welfare and medicaid with more kids and they dont and only just **** all day. That sounds racist or whatever but again this is for all poor communities (white, black, mexican, asian, whatever). Now for all the money that we spend each year on each additional kid born into these bad communities to just be raised to do the same thing...would it be worth it to the government to offer the male in these areas a lump sum or 5 or 10 thousand dollars to get a vasectomy. I know this sounds just wrong but look at it in the long term spectrum. It would reduce gangs, crime, and most importantly, it would most definitely make up for the cost by the amount of welfare and medicaid it would save each year. I think you are over simplifying the problem and are ignoring the larger issue at hand. It is not just the traditional "poor," if you will, who are needing assistance, but it is now the new poor, which includes hardworking, blue-collar families that once were able to make ends meet. Because the cost of doing business in the U.S. means that companies and corporations are unable to compete with their respective global competitors, they do what's needed to be competitive.
You can't have one of the world's highest corporate tax rates, most regulated markets, and expect to be competitive with other companies that don't have all of the hang-ups. I guarantee that more and more sectors of the market will continue to leave the U.S., unless there's a major shift in the approach to policies and expectations of government. Until then, there's going to be more and more poor Americans who will need government assistance to secure health care and prescriptions.
Obviously, I believe that the engine of our country is our economy and to keep it running at an optimal level, it needs less government everything. Without an economy, education loses its value, social mobility is a fantasy, and dependency upon the govt. is unavoidable. It's time that we care for ourselves and each other, rather than relying on the myth that big brother knows what's best for us and our communities. Decentralize everything!Comment -

I know, I know, the govt doesn't operate like it's low life citizens. They can print money, we can't. Why don't they give everyone a permanent tax holiday and just print money when they need it?

I understand we will never get those companies back. If the govt wants to invest, invest in American companies who want to manufacture here. The world economy is here, it's timeto bring it back to America.
Buy American. Assembled, designed and or made. Support your local business owner. Stay out of Wal-mart. If you can't, you know what to look for.
