carseller paid the 300pts to charity from a contest winning he had in team contest other night.. so i am okay with the outcome.. i certainly didnt like how it was approached/gambled and it showed not the best of thought process by carseller.. but since he made the equivalent of the 300 pt donation 3 days later i will be content to squash it.

Nice little write off for SBR. I'm suprised they wouldn't have matched this amount in some capacity. Maybe say 1/4 or 1/8th. Tax write off and no match seems weak.

Hmm, first of all we gave away all the points that folks used to donate. Secondly, we put up the points prize pool for the charity poker tournament. So bahumbug.

Nice that it all worked out Stash. Still, I think carseller owes you an apology for mis appropriating a donation you gave to him and blowing it in the casino, that was to be used strictly for Doctors Without Borders. Had he not gotten lucky and finally did what you originally intended the points to be used for, you'd be out 300 pts and DWB would have lost the additional $25. It clearly showed where carseller's priorities lie when it comes to doing the right thing, especially when someone like you was kind enough to give up an 900 additional pts so 3 extra sbr members could get in on this!

John, what does the concept of you giving away points have to do with this specific tournament? Nothing. You give points away to create revenue for SBR. No other reason. Out of all the other forums you have the most to offer with the points. If the points concept wasn't working well it would have long been forgotten.

Anyway, why not offer a % match or at the very least drop the rollover like someone else said?

You know, if we put those four dimes on a few sharp plays we could probably double it in no time. Help the charity out even more.

You give points away to create revenue for SBR. No other reason. Out of all the other forums you have the most to offer with the points. If the points concept wasn't working well it would have long been forgotten.

Anyway, why not offer a % match or at the very least drop the rollover like someone else said?
In dollar terms, the charity donations are just about the 'cheapest' items in the store. If that gives SBR some tax advantages, so be it.

Yes they could make the tourney points free from rollover but I don't think anyone who is entering is looking at it from the POV of being an 'investment'. It is a bit of fun that is raising some money.

Strong work, fellas. It'd be even better if non-pros could donate their points, even at an inflated cost.

Many companies, businesses, etc usually match some %. That is all I said. You were close to raising 5k for donating about 175 in gift card value. You should do it more often. I've donated but it went to the place where dreams come true.

Compared to the usual $/pt value of store purchase, SBR discounts the charity purchases quite a bit. That obviously comes out of their pocket. Additionally, they've supplied a decent prize package for the poker tournament when they didn't have to supply anything. Finally, anyone who was afraid of SBR to "getting credit" for their donation could use the direct donation link and still participate in the tournament.
