Charlie Weis head coach at Kansas
Quite the step down if you ask me from Notre Dame but I guess he needs to start somewhere.

I just heard through a couple of friends....the local area is really surprised by it from the way it sounds. Not sure after one year with the Chiefs, one year at Florida, now he comes to Lawrence. He wanted to go to Florida to be with his kid...not sure what changed

Kansas isn't a good football job....mediocre stadium and the cupboard is bare right now....but the school was desperate to bring someone in who could send a message to the fan base/boosters and make a splash. The local radio (810 am) kind of giving the indication the hire is surprising.....apparently Weis didn't tell Muschamp he was interviewing and basically dumped and ran on Florida....his 4th job in 4 years

Charlie Weis quotes from is stay in South Bend.

          8. “I’m going to answer that very cautiously, because I don’t want to be called sarcastic using New Jersey rhetoric. So let me just say people better enjoy it now, have their fun now.”
          - After last season.

          7. “You are what you are folks, and right now you’re a 6-5 football team. And guess what? That’s just not good enough. It’s not good enough for you. And it’s certainly not going to be good enough for me. So, if you think they hired me here to go .500, you…you got the wrong guy.”

          6. “They’re going to have to learn about us, OK? Let them try to stop a pro-style offense, which has multiple personnel groups and multiple formations. Let’s see how they are going to do. They’ve had their advantage because I’ve come into recruiting late. Well, now it’s X’s and O’s time. Let’s see who has the advantage now.”
          - After closing a mediocre recruiting class his first year.

          5. “Every game, you will have a decided schematic advantage.”
          - To his players.

          4. “No one will want a piece of us in 2009.”
          - During the 2007 season.

          3. “It’s been a while since we’ve been up in the second half. So I told my guys to act like they’ve been there before. Don’t make me look like an idiot.”
          - After their first win in 2007.

          2. “Michigan St will never beat Notre Dame again under my watch.”
          - After loss to Michigan State in 2005. They lost again in 2007 and 2008.

          1. “I’ve never lost to Pete Carroll and I’m not gonna start now.

Also the local rumor going around is Tim Grunhard former KC Chief Center who coaches a local high school in the area is going to be part of his staff. Grunny is a Domer and one of Weis's boys

yeah, you would think the smell of riding Belichick's jock strap would have wore off of Weis by now.

Unfortunately, Kansas football isn't exactly in a position to be picky....but Weiss has the perception of being a bad guy to get along with...whether it's justified or not

does this mean Florida will not have a offensive coordinator for the gator bowl?

is it time to pound the buckeyes?

Actually this may not be a bad gig for Charlie. No one expects Kansas to do anything in the near future, so he certainly will not have the pressure on him that he had at Notre Dame. He does have a lot of underclassmen coming back from their two deep roster.

no not a bad gig at all. It's like a hobby for Charlie, he certainly doesn't need the money so it will give him something to do atleast.
