Costs nothing for a small forum but much more for the larger ones that want to be successful. I'd put SBR is in the larger group and bet it costs more than people think. Of course this is just speculation.

What made SBR great is :-

1> You can file a complaint against any book at SBR. Most sites wont offer this.

2> SBR odds. Easily, the best feature of this site. And its free.

3> SBR points. I dont like them...but it drives the sheep nuts.

4> Contests. No site has this number of sponsored contests.

5> SBR Poker. I dont use it but its very nice.

6> JJgold. The dude is hillarious and deserves kudos.

The biggest problem any site faces is retaining the people once they join. SBR has done a good job of this...because of the reasons I mentioned above.

Good time this evening with numerous posters here in Sin City...............the HARD ROCK, M, and SOUTHPOINT were very good hosts to all of us.

The barrell racing at the National Finals Rodeo were very enticing...........it was great meeting many of the gals that participated in the event.

I will take some credit but my biggest achievements to this day at SBR are getting many people to use spreadsheet and making vids and pics mainstream

When I first got here no one used spreadsheet other than me and i never fukkin stopped promoting it everyday right up until today and still lead by example, same with vids and pics..so many guys now doing it

EOG was bigger than SBR before JJGold left EOG.

Then JJGold went to SBR and built traffic here. SBR is more of a visionary than EOG and developed many of the ideas posted earlier in the thread. The only other person that was as big of a draw as JJ was Shrink. Now that Shrink passed, EOG has very little traffic.

Covers blows you guys away and I doubt it is even a contest there. I would say the RX still gets way more traffic too. But the RX is basically just a forum site and little else to offer. But Covers has been the site with the most traffic for probably a decade. Their forums are mostly trash, but like I said so are everyone elses now. But a tn of people go there for their writes ups, their match ups their stats and whatever else they do. I dont go there anywhere near as much as I used to, but basically Covers is a place everyone goes to when theyre going to make a bet.

This place USED to have a decent odds tracking and datamining portal but you frigged that all up months ago and it is trash now. So the one thing you had that was better than most you broke. The one positive is there arent tout ads splashed all over the place. That is basically the difference.

Now I am not sure if this post was meant to be a shout out to posters or the site in general. But both are a little misplaced maybe. Because I would say the only guys posting here exclusively are guys getting paid. Shit, the guy that started the thread is posting all over the internet and hangs out with posters from other boards in vegas. As did you when you were there. Didnt you hang out with a bunch of EOG and RX guys the last couple times you went there? When you were suposedly on 'business' for this place? That hows how meaningful specific forums/sites actually are. And shores up my point that everyone lurks or outright posts at half a dozen boards all over the place, and you wont find something at one that wont be mentioned on at least two others. Although Fezzik bashing is sort of exclusive to the EOG these days, or fezziks own site.

The days of the 'us' against 'them' mentality died a long time ago. There is no real competition anymore so few people betting offshore now and so few books taking US customers they all just have ads at every existing place that generates even a little bit of traffic. And there isnt enough money to be made from guys at these types of sites anymore to make charging the exorbitant fees that used to be charged possible anymore. The offshore world has changed completely. Some for the better. some for the worse. But used to be that the start of the NFL had a dozen new sportsbooks starting up and all posting all over the forums with differing forum owners and posters pimping them. How many new books sprouted up over the past few years? Obviously 90% of them were scam joints but that was why forums mattered.

And dont start with 'this place gets things done' nonsense. This place doesnt do shit, at least in regards to a legitimate debt. ANYONE can get a guy paid a couple hundred bux..eventually, But if a guy is owed a substantial amount you think any site is going to get the money from them? Hw many complaint threads get posted here from people and then you have the forum terrorists chime in and bury the guy and give excuses as to why they arent getting paid or that they personally have never had a problem with said book. That alone makes the forum in this place absolutely worthless for people with LEGIT claims against a sportsbook.

I am done with this thread as it is basically an example of everything I have said about the whole matter.

The biggest difference between guys like you and guys like me is the ability to form an independent thought and then have the ability to back it up. "right' or 'wrong'. But ultimately in the world of sports betting the 'right' guys and the 'wrong' guys can only be classified by how much money they make. Since I made enough to basically be able to retire at age 40 (I turned 43 yesterday) I figre that makes me a guy that is pretty 'right'.

The fact that I dont have to schlep it around town or bonus whore or make another bet ever for that matter means I 'beat' the game.

How many so called experts or geniuses or whatever other monicker you want to give them can say that? Theyre all still on the boards beating the bushes for recognition, money, or followers to tout themselves to. Or still trying to prove to people how smart they are.

I have been posting on these boards for about 12-13 years, I have yet to be exposed for anything other than I claim. I have never made any contradictory statements and have been a straight forawrd and forth right as anyone. And I have yet to have anyone ever put up opposition to something I have said or talked about that could be checked. Most people just make dumb comments without any backing, thinking that what they have in their heads is more than what someone can pull up and print out for everyone to see.

I have made some pretty bold statements and gone against a lot of 'conventional wisdom' over that time. But I have yet to have that conventional wisdom be proven to be anything but folk tales and mythology.
