#179Of course... how can you even ask that? You think Boise State should get into the BCS ahead of TCU just because they would be favored on a neutral field?
The ACC sucks. I would still rather see V Tech.
Or of course OK St. (assuming one of those teams wins tonight).
Alabama can not win a real national championship. There is nothing they can do in one game to surpass LSU. They had their chance, at home, and they lost. There is nothing they can do against this 13-0 SEC Champion to surpass them in one game.Comment -

That is not the same as the AP National Champion.
If OK State defeats LSU, everyone has them as national champions. If Alabama wins, they would only win the dumbass "BCS title" and most sane people would have a different team as the national champs.
How could Alabama be ranked ahead of a team that had a better record, played a much tougher schedule, won more games, tied them head to head (including a win on the road), and won the SEC title? They can't.
Alabama is done, it's over, let someone else have a shot at LSU.Comment -

OK State has a more impressive resume. That alone should be enough to have them in the mix.
When you consider LSU is the SEC Champion and has defeated Alabama on the road, it becomes a no-brainer in my opinion.
This is not about power ratings, or else last year's Alabama team would have been in contention for the title game. You have to go off of results, not how Vegas would handicap the game.Comment -

When 1 and 2 play for the BCS title, the winner is the champion. The loser doesn't lose, but win. Maybe a few years the AP gives it to the team that gets left out of the BCS game once in awhile. But your idea is just plain silly.Comment -

If Alabama beats lsu in the title game, there the champions, no one cares about the AP champion or whatever poll your talking about. The system clearly sucks, but if they win there the best team. Same thing as any other sport when two teams play in the regular season, then again in the title game, whoever wins the title game is the champion.

#189I hate rematches. Let Okie State get a shot at LSU and have Bama play somebody else in the Sugar Bowl. If they really are #1 and #2 they can prove it against 2 other teams and not themselves. I'm an SEC fan and I think Bama is #2 but LSU/Bama rematch proves nothing. LSU already won the game on the road. Can't penalize them by having them play Bama again.Comment -

The "BCS" has neither history nor prestige on its side, and is based upon pure bullshit. Alabama getting a shot over OK State is all the proof you need that this is true.Comment -

#197Yes, they win the BCS title. I keep stating this, not sure why you guys keep repeating it back to me.
Totally wrong. And this "title game" was supposed to remove this huge problem of having "split" national championships.
True.
False.
False again. In other sports there are clear rules for qualifying for the playoffs. What you guys are advocating in this case is unfair to both LSU and OK State. The system sucks and you guys want to make it even worse. This is not like the World Series, where the AL Pennant winner plays the National League pennant winner (notice the Red Sox did not get "voted" in just because they were a top 3 team). You guys keep trying to compare this to sports whose seedings are wholly determined on the field of play. That's a stupid comparison.

The AP poll has been around quite a while and definitely has more presitge than the "coaches poll", the "harris poll" and the "computer poll" (the three BCS components).
The BCS title game determines the BCS championship. There can still be what is called a "split national championship" though. If Alabama wins the title game, I would have to think either LSU or OK State will be voted #1 by most voters.Comment -

#202Bama is ranked higher, if they end up 2nd they get to play. You say Bama had its chance=true, you say they had to win. Well then OKST and the other 119 DIV 1 teams had the same chance and failed, they lost too, and to a lesser opponent's. By your measure no one deserves the right to play.
You guys also don't seem to know what a "split national championship" is, nor what the AP poll is.Comment -

#205Pujols doesn't even know how the BCS rankings are determined (sports writers do vote in the Harris poll) and wants to equate a system where three terrible polls determine the #1 and #2 seeds to a professional playoff system where the seedings are determined on the field of play.
