Dallas-Miami game just showed Chairman of Salvation Army sitting w/ friend in luxury box.

Why should I donate to a charity if the mgmt is going to jet around and sit in luxury box tickets? I swear it's a scam.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

I'm not naive enough to give a person money based on their word that they plan on bettering the world with it.

          charities are for squares

tools donate so they can feel righteous and then brag to others about how good they are

something like 70% goes to adminstrative costs like the salary of that in the OP

i was just at a charity auction in san diego for ms, and all the ms execs were talking about their bentleys and rolls royces while drinking johnnie walker blue like it was water.
next time i even think of donating to a national charity like that i will picture those pompous buttholes that the money was going to.

Doesn't surprise me. I donated to them, someone that was very close to me has MS and now the charity won't leave me alone.

I read somewhere that the Salvation Army has like one of the highest percent of donations actually
getting to what it is doing (good will) not on salaries and perks for the higher ups.
The Head of the Salvation Army only makes like $15k a year I heard.

remember when ceo of united way had a $500k salary and was stealing millions to pay for a romance with a 17 year old girl?

                    yeah, good times.

yeah, this is why I'm very cautious about who I donate too. Only charities I'm well aware of. Most of them take the money for such and such then most of it goes to other things rather than what it was intended by the people who donated.

Hey fellas........that Salvation Army Chairman is Charlotte Jones Anderson.

The lady they showed sitting next to her was Gene Jones, who is her mom.

I doubt she had to pay anything for that suite, since she was a guest of Jerry Jones'.....who's also her dad!!

I thought this was pretty common knowledge. Hell they had it as part of the jerry jones story on 60 minutes.

Not only are half these guys in this thread hamburgers but they're miserable hamburgers too. Heads of these charities do make into six figures normally but they'd make 10 times what they make if they were with some sort of corporation.

Most people don't understand... that most charities are non-profit organizations. So, what does that mean??? That includes your payroll factored in... so while you believe you are donating into an organization for a good cause... 5 of the top employees could be paying themselves 2 million a year or more. It's perfectly legal. But, you have to understand... it goes for almost all non-profit organizations. Even the YMCA has people who make 7 figures a year. It's the truth.

Call me square but I believe that the Salvation Army
does a good job when it comes to helping people
in unfortunate situations. I have had employees tell me that
the Salvation Army came to bat for them before they
                                    found employment.
Anyone would accept an invitation to a great seat for a sporting event.
Always check the percentage of donations that go to
administrative costs before you throw stones at a charity.
                                    Happy Thanksgiving.

Donation business is really filthy. The management in these companies are paid big money. That's why you have to research the charity you want to send a donation.
