#13I'm a recent "Apple experience" guy myself and they did say viruses are fewer but not out of the question. Added the Surf whatever thing just to be sure and have the 'Geek Squad' plan that covers the Apple and 2 other PCs in the house for 2 years.

I use Adaware SE free version on my PC laptops and just got hit with that 'System Restore' virus that comes in when you update Adobe Flash a couple months ago....damn thing hid everything and locked me out.Comment

#24I just updated my PC and it is perfect for what I do... no big tasks, it was cheap and its so quiet.. I like it. It came with 60 free days of Norton and I'm actually liking it... coming from someone who has never paid for virus protection/spyware/etc. I always used the best free programs for so long.

It has a lot of good stuff and unless i just spews out random BS every now and then, it has blocked already a couple major threats from with its "intrusion prevention" and "browser protection"

I am debating after the trial is over whether or not to pay for it. Not like it slows down this brand new PC at all.Comment

#25Just had a hard drive fail so I've just re-setup my computer and been kindof researching this and other topics...

From what I've been reading most people who seem knowledgeable are arguing that several of the free anti-virus software (antivir and avast seem to be the most commonly recommended) are just as good as the pay crap and a hell of a lot less bloated...

If the free software is close to the performance of bought software this is my first option so I'm going with the antivir/comodo firewall combo on my fresh install...Comment
