Just a sham by the whole league. Colts had no intentions on competing and winning this year.

How much better is he than Curtis Painter? Why would Colts put him back out there, he won't be back next year.

My point exactly, why did you pay him 4 million dollars when you knew there would be no playoffs or chance of winning. Painter can be just as bad or good and he already knows the plays.

Put this one squarely on Polian's shoulders. It's time for Polian to hang it up. Polian drafted Collins way back in 1995, so he must've liked something about his abilities. But, sheesh, to pull a guy out of retirement to be a starter in this spot makes no sense to me. I had even saw rumors about Irsay talking to Favre around that time. I mean if they took Collins, maybe there was truth to the Favre rumors too. lmao.
Going forward, Painter looks like he should have been the guy all along. He had a good night against a stout Bucs defense. Even if Painter falters or gets injured, I'd kinda like to see what journeyman Dan Orlovsky could do with this offense. In any case, let Kerry Collins R.I.P. in a retirement facility somewhere.

Yeah, I was kinda curious how that $4 million compared to similar QBs around the league in that salary range.
Charlie Whitehurst $4 million.
Matt Hasselbeck $3 million.
Ryan Fitzpatrick $3.195 million.
John Kitna $2.6 million.
Sage Rosenfels $3 million.
Donovan McNabb $7.25 million.
Granted, Collins was signed at the last minute before the season started so the Colts had absolutely no leverage.

I bet that Curtis Painter doesn't make 4 million dollars this year, and you are getting at worse the same number of wins and bad stats. Keggy should give back 3.9 million back and go back home.

Painter is getting around half a million, which isn't unusual for backing up a premium QB in the NFL. Hoyer has a similar number sitting behind Brady, Kafka has a similar number sitting behind Vick, etc, etc. The bright side for Painter is that he's got a chance to win the lottery if he can do what Matt Cassell did when Brady went down a few years ago.
I think Collins can go home, but pay the man his money. Blame Polian for offering the cash, not Collins for taking it.

Nope. With the first pick in the 2012 NFL draft the Indianapolis Colts select Andrew Luck. The plan was to be on the bottom since March. The IR is filled with Colts who really could contribute later this year, but no, let those players get well and pick up the guys off the street or practice squad to replace them.

No Painter was awful, out side of two long runs on short passes by Garcon, painter was 11-28 with 146 yards - there's a reason football outsides ranks him the worst QB to play outside of McCown.
That said, Collins was average ( 56 cmp %. 75 QBR) in part time duty over 4 years in Tenn, if Collins managed to be average, thats about as good as your going too get scraping someone of the scap heap.

Wow, you're seriously defending Collins? If you didn't like Painter's stats, how can you like Collins?!
I'm not saying Painter is anything more than the best choice in this bad situation. I'm not even saying he's a legitimate NFL starter. I'm just saying he's a better emergency QB at this point than an old retired guy who has no experience with this team. Most importantly, at 0-4, it's best to go with youth and see what he's got rather than putting an old retread back on the field.

Im not defending Collins now, but the thought he could be at least avereage at the begining of the season. But yes be played poorly, and should be on the way out.
I doubt painter is the answer either, he has shown he's any good and the game vs the Bucs wasn't anything to inspire confidence.

Painter sure looks a whole lot better than Keg did this season. The wr's are now turning into fantasy studs again. Suck for Luck was on before the season started.

Check the date. Here is my birth certificate Mr. Trump, now leave me alone while I bury Bin Laden at sea. I have a million problems, but you will no longer be one of them.
