I know it’s hard to not talk about football two days in a row but what can you say about last nights MLB Season’s grand finale…
Day 162 did not disappoint…
If that wasn’t the most exciting finish to a season ever than I don’t know what would be. When the rains started in Baltimore last night at 945 the Yanks led the rays 7 zip in there eighth inning and it looked as if all the Red Sox would need to do was hold onto a 3-2 lead against the last place Orioles to avert a collapse of Kirstie Allie proportions. But then Papelbon choked it away and moments later—before the BoSox could even talk themselves out of the inevitable—Evan Longoria hit a ball that never got more than 7 feet off the ground until it traveled 315 and a half feet. Ironic that the game was played at Tropicana Field; because between the O’s scoring their game winner and Longoria’s shot, what a difference that Minute Maid.
Terrible Puns aside, the Braves heartbreaking loss seemed almost less dramatic after sitting a bar watching these two games side by side. But that comeback win by the Phils—although seemingly meaning less really does remind the Phils of just who they are—something they seemed to forget in last years post season. I really can’t see the Phils not taking it all this year.
Jose Reyes has no heart.
After bunting for a base hit in his first at bat yesterday he had himself pulled form the game to protect his shot at the batting title. This exemplifies what I have been saying about Reyes time and time again—he is a selfish player who cares only about his stats and himself not his fans or teammates. He cheated his teammates and the fans that were gracious enough to come out and watch a sub 500 team in the middle of a work day. Even though he did win the batting title with that move I think they shouldn’t give him a plaque with his name on it, they should give him a sash like you would any woman who wins a contest.
The Mets would be crazy to resign him this offseason. They need to build their team around players like Ike Davis—Happy Rosh Hoshanna, Ike—that bring a ton of heart onto the field and into the clubhouse.

2011 NFL Pro Picks with John Ryan
The fine people at SBRforum go to great lengths to bring you the best in handicapping—and bathroom humor as evidenced by this column-but if ever there was a week to jump on board with John Ryan is it this weekend. While he had a rough go of it Sunday he turned it around with his Indy and Washington picks proving that guys like John are a lot like your girlfriend—they may screw you one Sunday a year but if you expect it every Sunday you are crazy. And unlike your old lady… John doesn’t stay cold for weeks at a time. Don’t let me down this week Johnny R!!!
Geno’s Picks
USF -2.5 at PITT
It’s a Big East showdown—for one more year at least—as the Pitt Panthers host Skip Holtz's no. 16 ranked South Florida Bulls at Heinz Field. Pitt has dropped two straight games including that pillow fight that was their 15-12 loss to the Irish last Sunday while the USF offense is clicking more than an African with a stutter.
This game comes down to two factors—one being the QB’s. USF’s explosive offense is led by QB B.J. Daniels who—after a rough few seasons—seems to be getting it together as he leads the Big East with a 158.4 quarterback rating and his 8 TD passes. Pitt’s signal caller QB Tino Sunseri meanwhile has taken a huge step back this year as he has tossed as many TD’s (4) as picks and looked terrible this past Sunday in South Bend.
But the more important factor is that while USF thrives in big games under the national spotlight, Pittsburgh tends to be more like a rooster roach—when they get under the big lights they just freeze up before it all ends for them with one good kick.
Take USF and lay the 2.5
