    Coins
Anyone here experienced in coin collecting? Inherited a big batch of them, some are in rough shape and I'm not sure how to evaluate them.

Anyone willing to look at a scan of one to give me an idea where it ranks as far as PO,FR,AG etc?

    Thanks

Check Ebay. You can find pretty much any coin as an example on it.

That coin is probably "good" on that side. The wear towards the rim at it's weakest point makes it probably no better than that. Your best bet is to get a grading breakdown for Canadian coins and try to understand it at least somewhat before asking for help. It's really not very hard to understand at all. I say this because I collected coins heavily for over 20 years before selling off the collection. Like any business where many that have some stake in the business but know very little, and your situation is a perfect example, the sharp guys are going to try to cheat you more often than not. Sad, but true.
If you check the dates yourself and grade them each yourself with a simple grading sheet, it will give you an idea for each coin. Most are probably best served to be sold as silver melt price, but you might have a few that are rare by date and/or mint mark. (Where they were minted).
While grading, make sure each coin passes the lowest criteria before going to the next level.
Once you have made a list of the coins and approximate grade, take that list( not the coins) to a couple of different dealers to ask there opinion on price.
                    That should get you started.
PCGS is the biggest name in the coin grading business. If you can find there grading manual, use it.
Again, be careful. They are probably for the most part not worth much more than silver price but for every one guy that will be honest about it, there will be nine that will not.
Let me know if I can be of any further help.
                    Best of Luck.

Depending on the rarity and the strike, very good and fine can be quite nice.
That coin can not be very good or fine because of the worn rim at it's worst area. Most of the coin is VG or F but the bad spot takes all of that away.

Screw eBay and get yourself a coin catalog and do some homework - check for mint marks, errors etc. GL
