Line moves are exaggerated. Ferrer opened at 1.67, fell to 1.53 by this morning as people piled on. Then smart money brings it back to something more sensible, 1.64 by kickoff - he hasn't been playing well since he returned from a broken finger in Cincy.

Ferrer might not be a top player on hard court, but to be honest, neither is Roddick anymore. Especially with courts playing so slow.

He's certainly not a scrub but it's also not an especially "tough" draw to have Benneteau be your only respectable foe in the first 3 rounds of a Grand Slam tournament.

Hell - a few guys had a tougher FIRST round match than that (Isner for example).

Obviously Roddick isn't. If he were, he would've been favored. A top hardcourt player isn't going to be an underdog to a non-top hard player.

If you bet on the game and it hasn't completed 2 sets, your bet will be cancelled.

Edit...looks like it's will not be cancelled if the suspension is due to weather.

they will try to resume if the weather clear up and after they dried the court.

Well obviously they're not going to cancel a US Open 4th round match due to weather - I was talking about if Ferrer retires down 1-3 due to injury.

It looks like there is a good five hour window coming up where they could get some play in. Forecast has less than 25% chance of rain during that period. If there is any rain at all, don't count on them coming out. Murray, Roddick and Nadal already complained about them being run out earlier when they probably should not have started.

The game will decide on how roddick is. It's not his fault he has not played anyone amazing yet in the tournament.

he is as bad as they come, and any one that would lose to him should retire from tennis

Benneteau has bursts of quality throughout his career. When he's on he has a terrific big serve, is ultra solid from the baseline, scraps for everything, and very good at the net. He beat Federer that way once, after all. Had matchpoints against Nadal last year in Cincinnati too.

Generally you only see that on fast courts though, typically European indoor events, like Marseille last year (which is fairly quick since they switched to Gerflor). In the US, mainly Cincinnati because it's really fast there, but Winston-Salem is also nice and quick because of the heat, thus the final there.

He ran out of gas playing against Roddick though, had played 13 matches in the two weeks before the US Open. The courts being slower this year didn't help him either.

He has wins over Roddick, Baghdatis, Gonzalez, Blake, Ferrer, Davydenko, Federer and Tsonga. All when they were in the top 10. He was a top 30 player before he got hurt so he's certainly not a scrub.

istomin is just as bad a player as benneteau, nothing special there

almagro is only good on clay and very inconsistent in general, not to mention that most of the time he looks like he just came out of the business side of an all you can eat buffet

Roddick will never be elite again. He'll never win another slam. Ferrer is a better hard court player today than roddick. He isn't just a clay courter anymore.

Pretty much the only way Roddick will beat Ferrer tomorrow is if Ferrer struggles from the baseline and Roddick moves well. Both of those things have to happen because even an in-form Roddick will not beat a consistent, ruthless Ferrer. The most ruthless player on tour.

I think that goes without saying now that he's past his prime. He hasn't really been in the GS discussion in the last two years.

People said last year the Heat could not lose to the old Mavericks but look what happened. roddick is not really that old.Isn't fedderer is basically the same age. So is Ferrer. You can't count any of those guys out in my opinion. We will ahve to just have the games do the talking but not like they will ever be played with this weather.

So that's why you don't see anything worse than -200. Never count out that "one final push" factor... this could be Andy's last chance at something big. USA isn't so enthusiastic about Davis Cup as other countries.
