Ref Attacked In Youth Football Game

Authorities investigating an attack on a referee at a youth football game in Florida will have their jobs made easier by this YouTube of the horrifying incident.
The melee began Saturday when some unhappy coaches of the Sarasota Gators began throwing water bottles at officials, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
One player in the game for 13 and 14-year-olds makes a flying tackle of a ref. Then players and coaches swarm the field and one man appears to kick the referee in the head.
Attacking a sports official is a third-degree felony in Florida, and Sarasota County Sheriff's Col. Steve Burns said he expects charges to be filed against two or three people once individuals are identified and interviewed."The video speaks for itself," Burns said. "It was disturbing."

That's a good question to ask "what if these were whites?" and the circumstances were switched. If these were whites, this would be a hate crime for targetting the only black ref on the field in the same way the only white one was targetted here.

It would be all over MSNBC and the like with headlines of "racism still a prevailing issue in our society". Instead, we find it on an AP youtube channel with 2,500 views.
