Going back to 1978 there has never been this bad of a preseason for the dogs against the spread. Actually overall betting the dogs does pretty well in preseason. Is there some huge flaw in my strategy? I'm having a mid preseason crisis here.

Preseason betting is all about personnel and rotations, dogs, home, road team trends will come and go.

That's what I'm saying though, according to my research it isn't -ev. I know some seasons will win and lose, but this?

I think 6 months of no football forced the teams to play more the starters than the scrubs so the dogs never had a chance.

I know this sounds crazy but I think I would rather bet and lose the rest of the preseason than sit and watch while I miss out on the turnaround that may come. I know, I'm sick

Yeah but there have been a lot of games in which the dogs have had the lead and then blown it in spectacular fashion in the second halves and 4th quarters with the scrubs out there.

Chicago was a good dog play and I guess Detroit but didn't bet them but a lot of these games the favs just haven't been favored by enough, the Jets should win tomorrow as well though maybe the Giants can have a big 2nd half.
I think it is easier to bet the halfs in preseason but sometimes take games if you like starters and backups

I feel your pain, I am having my worst preseason in 12 years because of so many favorites winning. I cleaned up with money line dogs in recent years, but this year nothing.

You guys obviously didn't do some thinking on how the lockout, shortened camp/etc would affect the preseason as well as into the regular season.
its obvious the teams that have vets and been successful in the most recent seasons and chemistry are affected less by the shortened practice/camp time than teams who have brought in new qbs/rooks/free agents and have had bad seasons...
...of course some dogs have still gotten the job done.
take more of the favorites in the preseason week 4 first halves... and teams may want to play starters more in this game than in previous years just to get more plays in before the games count for real.

Frizzelli i wouldn't go so far as to say you are the cancerous tumor of this forum but you are at least a bothersome pus filled boil on it's ass.

havent payed too much attention to the dogs this preseason, but i have noticed that they haven't been playing as hard as in preseasons past. definitely has something to do with the lockout, but honestly, who could ever predict how hard teams are gonna play in august....

like all things in life, you must be able to adapt and change. If not you'll be dead along the side of the road (look at JJ). Don't try to keep forcing something that clearly wont work. If you're losing, find out WHY and re-evaluate what you bet, and WHY. Always be evaluating why you bet what you do, learn from this.
