Anyone who took brewers in game 2 knows nothing about baseball.
Nothing. Pit +185 going into game 2 after losing game 1.
Doubleheader sweeps- very rare.

1) Brad Lincoln
2) 13 in a row
3) Pirates started a scrub lineup, even by their standards.

I took them before the first game started, that was my mistake.
But realistically, Im sure there are people who know baseball who took them in Game 2 after Game 1 ended.

I'm sure someone has backtested this. But is it possible to make a profit by just fading the winner of the 1st game in a doubleheader?

13 in a row really means nothing...... winning streaks are onlly winning streaks until they end. If anything the longer they go on the more likely they are to end...

Yes you would win a lot Masu I almost never would take the team who wins the first game as a favorite especially
If by rare, you mean 55% of double headers from 02-08 were sweeps, than yes, I agree that they are rare. With Brewers losing tonight, they are 9-10 this year. Super rare.

yeah its 55% so when you get +185 you take it right?
i love you. super square. do you bet on all local teams every night?
You're only looking a small sample size there pal. Even if we assume you are correct, that's barely over 50% so taking the Pirates at +112 and +185 will yield profits long run will it not?? If you place bets of -122 and -185 every double header and only win 55% of the time, aren't you losing money.
In addition, I have read that it's more like 26% that a double header is swept. I'm not sure how true that is as I haven't researched it that much.
"The Elias Sports Bureau, however, found that double headers are swept only 26.2% of the time."
Joe Morgan also said they were split 80% of the time which would go along with the Elias Sports Bureau. That being said, I'm not going to claim it's true just because Morgan said so.
I would venture to guess it's closer to 50%. That's why I took the Pirates twice today. My logic told me they would most likely win at least one game and I would profit because I was getting them at plus money each time.

You said sweeps are rare. I proved you wrong. Its ok buddy, we can all see it
I never said anything about the line being justified or not. Just that your reasoning for not taking Brewers was incorrect.
I rarely play local teams... not sure how that's relevant though

NO. your stats proved taking pits was correct. +185 when only 55% are sweeps. Do you not know math?

I don't know a lot by any means but it just seemed like a good bet to take the underdog Pirates in both games. I mean, they were a home dog that has been decent at PNC this year. It seems like most double headers are split. Why not bet the home dog twice?
It seems like it would be easier to make money hoping the Pirates win one of two at home then it would be laying huge juice on the Brewers to win two in one day on the road...right???
Likewise, even though the Brewers swept Pitt recently, I don't think they scored more than three runs in any of those games. Also, other than this recent hot streak, Mil. hasn't been great on the road.
-If you bet the Brewers both games you would need them to win both to make money and you would have to risk a ton of juice.
-If you bet the Pirates both games you be risking less and you would only need them to win once to make money...

If you're basing the Pirates chances solely on the chances of a doubleheader sweep, absolutely.

Why do people keep saying, "if they Brewers had won ect..."
They didn't win.
If you think taking a road favorite two games in a row of a double header and laying -185 will yield profit if you do it everytime by all means go for it....
You will need that road team to win like 70% of this games.
What are the odds of a road team sweeping a double header????

Its happened 4 times this year. Its only happened to bad teams though (the losers). Colorado swept the Muts, Tampa swept Minnesota, Giants at Cubs, and Cleveland at Minnesota.
