The last 11 Super Bowl losers have gone 0-11 ATS and 2-9 SU in Week 1 openers the following season. You have to go back to the 1999 Falcons to find a runner-up that won and covered. Pittsburgh opens the season as a 3-point underdog at Baltimore

#3That isn't a trend. It is a coin flip.
The variables involved in NFL roster turnover, coaching turnover, scheduling, location-----make that observation nothing but a random coincidence.Comment -

#5just like clueless broke to put all his eggs in an irrelevant stat.
these are way more relevent anyways:
steelers have won 8 consecutive season openers.
steelers are 5-2 vs ravens since 2008. both losses were by mere 3pts.

#12Seriously?
Okay, so you went back 11 years....now go back 30 and tell me the numbers?
You really think a statistic with a sample size of 11-----is significant?
By all means, push all-in on it. It can't lose, you're on it, right?Comment -

#16Degens love themselves trends. They treat them like they are laws of nature.
Ya know..."Teams with a starting QB with a q in their last name are 31-2 in the second week of the season in odd years with months that have more than 13.4 inches of rain in the east coast....that bitch is lock!!"Comment -

#19I love trends....they mean so much right?
Take the MLB All-Star game.
From 1972-1982, the National League won every single year----based on Brock's logic-------1983 was a no-brainer---the National League was a lock to win.
Yeah, 'bout that. American League won in 1983.
Now, I would love to see Brock explain to us how/why a sample size of 11 is significant.
Still waiting for that one.Comment -

#20Games a tossup. Always real close when these two play, probably decided by an QB error or big PI penalty call. There are better spots to pick than this game.Comment -

#25How about the other 34 years of sb runner ups?
Not only that but streaks are meant to be snapped just like this year in nba for me. I stuck to trends in the beginning and i got smacked like an abused child that refused to eat his collard greens. Now that I got that off my chest. The game is a toss up really it is.
Flacco equals interceptions and Ben is a rapist so we have to wait for this to be decided.
For you landers I hope you do not go hog wild make this play large. Just make it a play.Comment -

#27Brock I really hope you don't use that trend to guide your pick. It is not a stat that predicts the probability of future events and therefore has no effect on this years opener. The Ravens may be the play but it would have nothing to do with that trend.Comment -

There is absolutely no predictive value in Brock's trend. None. It is a quirk, a silly coincidence, and he is considering risky his money on some goofy coincidence?
NFL rosters, scheduling, coaching changes all are variables that are not consistent throughout those 11 years that Brock is using in his "trend".
Let me explain it this way.
Suppose you flip a coin and it comes up heads 11 consecutive times-----what do you think the odds are it comes up heads the 12th time? I'll give you a hint. It isn't 100%.Comment -
