What do you guys choose for a 1 day competition. I just started playing and have noticed that people are taking 3 starters that are at a lesser quality than 2. I took 2. Live and learn. I'm hoping that their strategy backfires

3 and a reliever.
Sure its costs more, but you need both relievers to get you the save, or you lose points in the long run.

thanks Nash--I definitely have to get into a few of these and see how they go. I don't like taking crap pitchers but I might have to.

Take 3 mediocre and look for bargains in hitting.
Like Infante tonight, he owns the Mets, and he's still owning them.
Do your homework, it pays.

my starting pitcher gave me negative points last night. f*cker. finished almost negative 5 and i was 3 points out of the money. cahill.
id say 3 is a better strategy because you never know what batters are going to be on but almost every pitcher is good for a few points usually.

Came 4 pts out of the money in the 275 man league last night was heated. Love the site though. More interactive than just betting against a book om a num,ber and money is safe so less stress there.

I'm up over 2K playing medium cash leagues this year.
So much better than betting the games
Tonight's sleeper hitters are Johnny Gomes (if start) Seth Smith is incredible tonight, check out his stats, Span for Minny should be good for points, A-Gone (Braves), Barney too is a nice sleeper for tonight,

The way the scoring works on DS for pitchers, strikeouts are very important, so look for value by finding average/below average pitchers who have a good K/9in ratio against bad teams that strike out a lot. Even if they give up 5 runs, 9 hits, a couple walks, and get a ND in 6 innings, but SO 8 batters, you still will end up plus 3.5-4 points or so. If every player on your roster averaged 3-4 points, that will be enough points to win a daily H2H league most days.

K's are always a premium in fantasy league.
Might want to look at Phil Hughes tonight, he's a pig, but if his yakker is on, he could strikeout 8

You guys are further along than most with the nuances of this. The cross between fantasy and gambling gives an edge to gamblers because they understand value and how to dig beneath the surface on some stats. Based on stevenash's recommendations he realizes all 'name recognition' means is that player is probably a bit more expensive than he should be.

i would surely lean 3 starters over relievers, whether or not a reliever even gets in the game is a pretty big question mark, let alone how they do.
