Why can't all NFL teams start training camp on the same day?
Why are they being staggered?

Because not every team plays their first game on the same date. They want to make sure that every team has the exact same days to practice before the first preseason game to minimize player injuries.

I thought this was weird as well but quickly dismissed it because I was so happy that football is officially back.

Below is a list of training camp start dates, as dictated by the rule that allows veterans to report no earlier than 15 days before their first preseason game. These dates are not official and are subject to change.
<table style="width: 408px; height: 386px;"><tbody><tr class="last"><td>***subject to change
Aug. 11 </td><td>Seattle at San Diego, 8 p.m. (ESPN) </td></tr> <tr class="last"><td>Aug. 12</td><td> Tampa Bay at Kansas City, 8 p.m. (FOX)</td></tr> <tr class="last"><td> TBA </td><td>Arizona at Oakland</td></tr> <tr class="last"><td> TBA </td><td>Baltimore at Philadelphia</td></tr> <tr class="last"><td> TBA </td><td>Buffalo at Chicago</td></tr> <tr class="last"><td> TBA </td><td>Cincinnati at Detroit </td></tr> <tr class="last"><td> TBA</td><td> Denver at Dallas</td></tr> <tr class="last"><td> TBA</td><td> Green Bay at Cleveland </td></tr> <tr class="last"><td> TBA</td><td> Indianapolis at St. Louis</td></tr> <tr class="last"><td> TBA</td><td> Jacksonville at New England</td></tr> <tr class="last"><td> TBA</td><td> Miami at Atlanta</td></tr> <tr class="last"><td> TBA</td><td> Minnesota at Tennessee </td></tr> <tr class="last"><td> TBA</td><td> N.Y.
