I have a 2005 Yukon and am looking to go to a 2008/09. I actually want gas prices to go up. People over-react to gas prices imo. Then they will do anything to dump their gussler and I buy it for thousands less than what they should go for. Plus, I have to pull my 26foot cabin cruiser and I do a ton of hunting in ND and I wouldn't do to well with a car.. Everyone has their opinions I understand.

how about you tell us where the fukk you live. Or just if you have to deal with snow, because that will also help determine.

If you have 20K you should buy a 2010 car with less than 20,000 miles. No need to look at 2005 models.

Ford Escape has changed the body style for 2012.
The new 2011's are not moving. In the next 2-3 months they will be in very high supply and very low demand. As a result , the rebates will be probably 4-5 grand. Currently at 3k. Not loaded but not bare bones either is the best bang for the buck. By Oct. 1st you will be able to buy a new one for 20k or less including tax, title, etc.
This will only work well for you if you plan on keeping the car for at least 7 years and/or running it in to the ground.Trade in value will be weak .Very solid gas mileage for an SUV. If that fits your scenario, see if you like it.

You can't go wrong with a Honda (Civic,Accord, or CR-V) however you will have to sacrifice a few years and some mileage. As far as late models with low miles you should look at Hyundai and Kia. They have both progressed leaps and bounds over the last 5 years. GL!

Never buy used. Just get an inexpensive, brand new model, that is fresh off the lot.

What? That is NOT correct. An automobile loses 20% of it`s value as soon as you take possesion of it.
Those suggesting Honda and Toyota know little of value. True, they are great cars, but new or used, over-priced, over-valued.

Paver is right. If you have 20k, you might consider a car a year or two old, not a 2005.

                                                bad idea.

find a nice used car with 20-40k miles, wont lose much equity vs buying a new car.

                                                  i agree with this.

i think most car shoppers look at the stickers on new cars and automatically think "i cant afford this, its too expensive!"

so they go across the street to the used car lot and buy the same model except 2 years older with 24k miles for $4000 less. but had they done even minimal research they could have bought the new one for $5000 off sticker.
