Carm thought by posting Aussie maternity leave regulations that it meant something about me. I'm not allowed to work for an Australian company. I'm here on a v i s a that doesn't allow that. I'm only allowed to work for the company that sponsored me to come here. That's the way it works when you're sponsored into a country. YOU CAN ONLY WORK FOR THE COMPANY THAT SPONSORS YOU OR YOU'RE BOOTED OUT OF THE COUNTRY. Fukking unreal

You must notify the department of any change in your circumstances.
If you cease employment, you must do one of the following:
- find another employer who is willing to nominate you
- apply for another type of substantive ****
- leave Australia within 28 days unless your **** expires before that time, in which case you must leave Australia prior to **** expiry.

If your application for a temporary **** is approved, the following **** condition, known as Condition 8107, will be applied to your ****. This **** condition relates to work conditions and stipulates that you must work:
- in the occupation you were nominated for; and
- for the sponsor, or an associated entity of the sponsor (except for exempt occupations). Further information is available on ComLaw (IMMI 10/030).

If you do cease employment, you must not cease for more than 28 consecutive days. You are considered to have ceased employment when either you, or your employer gives notice of intention to cease employment and the date of the notice of intention to cease employment has passed. If more than 28 consecutive days have passed since the date in the notice of intention to cease employment, you may be in breach of Condition 8107 and may have your **** cancelled. In the event that you abandon your employment, or are absent without leave (AWOL), you may be considered to have ceased employment.
If your **** is about to cease, and you want to apply for another Subclass 457 ****, you must lodge a new **** application.
From 14 September 2009, if you want to change employers (within the validity of their ****) you will not be required to apply for a new Subclass 457 ****, however a nomination must be lodged and approved by your new sponsor.Comment -

And many employers in other countries offer that or much longer as a perk. Some you get paid, some you don't. And in some cases you contribute a bit each paycheck and stash it away so when you do take mat leave you're still paid for your entire leave. Unfortunately though some countries allow their companies to basically offer jackshit which sucks as well. Sad that mat leave policies are one of those things women have to look at when they reach a certain age and are thinking about starting a family. Shouldn't be that way.Comment -

In fact, that's where I lived before I moved to Australia. Search my tennis thread. You'll even see me speaking that language in there to people from that country

JJ, if I show you my passport and proof of every country I've lived in will you buy me an iPad? I won't just show you passport stamps as that could mean I just visited there. I'll show you definitive proof.
I can show you proof of Canada, the US, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Norway and Australia. I'm forgetting one or two but those are the ones coming to mind. Promise me here in front of everyone and I'll show you proof within 30 minutes. If my son wakes up it'll take me a bit longer. But you'll definitely know it's my stuff - I'll include notes with everything. Only for an iPad though.

no, I just had to move for work. I'd go to one place and then when the job there was done, they'd move me because there was no use for us to be there any more. Or if the next place wasn't ready yet, I'd go back to LA until it was. THAT'S WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY about why I really don't think it'd be good for me to do that again FT now that I have my son.
Seriously, if I was going to bullshit about my life I'd say that I have a husband and the white picket fence. I'm a single mom. With the amount of shit and judgement I've taken for that alone on SBR, that would've been the first thing I'd have lied about. Or at least I could've pretended somewhere along the way that I have a great boyfriend or fiance now. Or even that my family were here helping me out. Nothing that I've stupidly shared about my life is great. In fact it just opens me up to being attacked by small-minded assholes. My life seems weird compared to what you're used to but it's the same as if I were in the military and were getting stationed every so often. It's just in a different industry.
