Serious topic about capping and NBA game-fixing
If there does wind up being high-profile interest and investigation into the NBA wanting certain outcomes, certain players to do certain things, etc etc -

Will the NBA stop "fixing" games, in whatever ways that means? And if so, will the betting odds and/or results for the upcoming season be noticeably different.

Should we change our approach to betting the NBA this next year?

I don't think it plays as big a role during the regular season, so no. As far as this years playoffs, it became really really clear how games were being called, all you really had to do was back the home teams for the most part.

IMO it's a reason to steer clear of games with significant and sudden line moves. It's not good to follow it and bet the new line anyways and now you have reason to leave the other side alone.

NBA playoffs are like watching the WWE, nothing more. Only exciting if you're a fan of a team that's in it, or if you happen to be on the right side. From a true sports appreciation standpoint, basketball is losing its appeal. Perhaps that's why they're trying to manufacture series.

This stuff's been going on since at least Bill Russel's day, no way it's changing, tonight or ever:

Since I don't follow the NBA one little bit, I don't have an answer for you HG. But I think the first question that begs asked on the subject is just how much, if any, bettors have been factoring in 'the fix' to their current approach? If they don't think of that angle, and the games are no longer 'fixed' next year, then it would seem obvious that bettor shouldn't change a thing in how they cap the games (unless they consistently lose, then yes, they should change their capping approach).

If it has been a concerted effort, one giant script, then you also have to conclude that outcomes will change in the future if 'the fix' is no longer in place, right? So how fast the books adjust to the real NBA is the next thing I'd wonder about since it would mean some nice opportunities before they do adjust.

In the end, however, I still don't give a rat's ass about the NBA.
