If Anheuser-Busch sells out , I'm switching to Coors
Belgian-Brazilian brewing giant InBev wooed Anheuser-Busch on Thursday, vowing to respect its St. Louis heritage and not close any US breweries if it accepts a 46-billion-dollar (30-billion-euro) takeover bid.

InBev, which already owns leading brands such as Stella Artois, Beck's, Leffe and Brahma, offered 65 dollars a share for Anheuser-Busch on Wednesday, seeking to build an unrivalled global brewer.

Even though the St. Louis, Missouri-based company said it would "review the merits" of the takeover, InBev faces stiff opposition from local politicians and beer lovers, who were quick to attack the takeover.

The success of the takeover offer will ultimately be decided by Anheuser-Busch's shareholders.

First off, you are aware that even Coors sold out a few years ago...to Molson.

Secondly, if I had to pick one country and one country only to brew beer, it would be Belgium.

And a lot of the noise you hear from people being against it are against the sale of Anheuser-Busch because InBev is known as a "ruthless cost-cutting machine" to quote one article I've read in the last week on this possible takeover. Most of the noise you hear is from folks in St. Louis who stand to lose out if and when InBev comes in and slashes a bunch of useless middle management jobs. That and all of the distributors who will have to make their sales pitch to a European outfit that ain't gonna' fall for a lot of bullsh¡t.

Some casinos have banned Bud sales for a long time.

Try ordering a Bud product of any kind at The Imperial Palace in Vegas and Don Laughlin's Riverside in Laughlin and you will get a dirty look with a no,we don't sell Bud products.I heard there are a couple more big casinos on that no sell list.

There are 3 reasons that float around as to the reason they don't sell Bud.#1-it's made with rice and they don't consider that to even be beer if it's a rice product,it's Saki.#2Jesse Jackson shookdown Anheiser Bush to get his pennyless kids a huge distributorship in Chicago and the local, state and federal government also helped them.#3at the same time hairlip's kids were gifted a distributorship,Roger Marris the baseball player who grew up in the same general area and was the same age as the owners of The Imperial Palace and Riverside had his family owned distributorship in Florida taken away by Anheiser Bush.

Yeah, it sure would be a shame if Bud started tasting a little more like Stella.

Does this mean that they won't sponser every sport they can? I am convinced that is the only way that they can seel most of the products they put out. If the beer was left to its own merits, sales would be really low.

It will be a good thing if it happens. It may take the piss smell out of Bud Light.

Willie, I remember now. You like to brew your own beer. I am with you on the beers from Belgium. They are great. Had a ton of Stella with sushi last night while I was out.

Atre the AB workers Union? I wonder how that would work out?

It sounds like another shot to the economy. Ford going to Mexico and now this.

But, maybe they use Bud in the US as a home base to get more of their beer here? Is Becks imported?

I'm not sure how many are union workers. I do recall that the teamsters were pretty pissed at Anheuser-Busch a couple of years ago because A-B simply hired a new distributor when the teamster drivers went on strike. Got no clue how that was settled, or even if it was.

Yeah, one of my bro-in-laws and I piddle around a bit brewing our own ales. We order recipe kits from a place in Austin (Austin Homebrew) and always have different 'flavors' in various stages of aging. We've got the Newcastle Brown down pretty well and have been working on the Boddingtons recipe lately. All of that is going up now on account of the bad hops crop in Europe, NW USA and Southern Canada.

This is a very opto-mystic view. It would be nice to have some more good beer to choose from.
