Federer Took Away Andy Roddick's Motivation

Federer took away so many majors from Roddick at his peak that he got discouraged. Roddick played about as good as it can get, a couple of years ago in Wimbledon and Federer still managed to eake out a victory.


He really hurt Roddick's career. Roddick still has ability but is past his peak, and doesn't have it mentally anymore. Ousted by Feliciano Lopez in straight sets.

Very overrated player to summarize this.

He had a part in Brooklyn Deckers new film, maybe a film career beckons. 28 seems to be a young age to think about retirement but in tennis he is getting up there, Federer is 29 but has a good shot at winning this tourney.

I am shocked at how poor Roddick has looked all year but this tourney is one he really loves.

Don't know how you can say Roddick is overrated. I don't know too many people who consider him to be a favorite against many a player now.

this is partly true, roddick made the biggest mistake of his career firing brad Gilbert because he couldn't beat federer. little did he know no one could at the time...and he fired a coach that had him on the right path.

there was a something that was put out there about how guys seem to have career days against him......... to an extent its true, lopez had a ridiculous winners to errors ratio; 56 to 8???
but i think a lot of it is him, he really isnt that good other than his serve and even that isnt carrying him as much as it did in the past.
