My two reasons people go bust and get barelled in.
    Actually three:

    1. Bet to much per game based on their available funds.
    2. Unrealistic ROI expectations.
    3. Bet on too many sports and games.

Number 1 has to be betting too many games. Have to be selective to stay alive.

Couldn't agree more on your 3rd point, Slick. I think that is the downfall of many gamblers. Trying to beat to many games.

Some people also just don't like to lose so if they happen to lose one bet they will try to chase to get the money back and then the losses snowball and boom, your barrelled in

            Chasing = Barreled

I think I'm going to write Websters Dictionary to see
if they will put this in their dictionaries and thesauruses.

Aside from chasing there's also the reverse, running well and being hot so you get over aggressive and blow your load on a game you probably don't hit as much if you're breaking even all week.

You guyz know I post a lot of shit and jokes but this is entirely true. I am up 550% since May because I am very selective on which games I bet BIG. I bet every day on bases but you know how much I bet? $20 only. When I see a situational play I bet $1500-2000. This occurs about once every week or so. If you need action every day, keep it small and save your wad for the high probability play. My most recent huge bet was on the Reds at plus money in game one of their series with the Marlins. I hit that for $1800 at plus 125 I think. It's all about spot betting.

I agree with all three of these.

For (1.), I think the cause of this is often that people underestimate how likely it is they will hit a bad losing streak, even if they pick well. Flip a coin enough times and you will get 6 tails in a row sooner or later. A lot of people's money management strategies won't account for this.

I've hit 7 out of 11 since early May of the plus money dogs on these big bets. It pays off. I'm eyeballing the Mets closely for a situational play. Don't know when just yet. Letting it set up. $20 today on the Twinkies. Just for the action. LOL!

Betting too many games is the number one mistake a player makes

I've recommended this before but here it is again. This will cure all 3 problems.

Make 2 separate bankrolls for your gambling. Divide it into about 80-20. Or maybe 90-10. The bigger BR is for serious bets. The ones you really are confident about. The bets from the bigger bankroll are many times bigger than the bets made from your "compulsive BR", which is the smaller one. The smaller BR is the BR you use for everyday betting, just to satisfy the urge for action. You dont use your big BR unless you are extremely confident about a play. This way, whether you win or lose is going to depend solely on your "focused, non-chasing, spot betting BR". With your smaller BR you are allowed to chase and do all those bad things at times. You use the same size bets everytime in your big BR. You can increase bet size as your big BR increases by say 25 or 50% or whatever. But then if you lose 25% in your big BR you need to lower your bet size too. But we arent going to lose in our big BR because these are only focused bets that you are sure about.

If you want to take it a step further, then dont chase at all, even in your smaller BR. This would be ideal.

No brainer, 1-3 are good reasons people get barreled in, but the main reason people get barreled in is parlays, props, totals, and above all else missing/losing on too many sides.

Totals are money in the bank if you are selective.
