    Trouble with 888.com
About 3 years ago I deposited $1000 with Casino-on-Net (www.888.com) I received a $200 bonus and played through it twice ($400) thus fulfilling the requirements at the time. I finished with a balance of $1177.50

For whatever reason I never went back after that and my money has sat in their account for 3 years. Last week I decided it was about time I cashed out.

I have now been informed that my account has been disabled, and has no money in it. They have revoked my bonus ($200) well, OK, I can just about live with that I guess.
But what about the other $977.50? Well they also mention a 'management fee' that was deducted. Management fee? Of $977.50?!

Here are the rules on bonuses:

All Bonuses and promotional offers extended to Members must be wagered at Casino-on-Net within 90 days of being credited to a Member's Account or within the period specified in the notification of a promotional offer if different. Casino-on-Net reserves the right, at its sole discretion and at a time of it's choosing, to revoke any Bonuses and promotional offers, or any parts thereof, not used by a Member within the relevant time period.

Casino-on-Net reserves the right to withhold the amount of any Bonus from a Member's Cash Out.

In the event of abuse, Casino-on-Net reserves the right to discontinue the Member's Casino-on-Net Membership and to prevent the Member from accessing the Casino in the future.

Don't see any mention of management fees or them reserving the right to keep my initial deposit. And how exactly does one establish that 'abuse' has occurred? So I can't deposit money, change my mind and decide online casinos are not an avenue I want to go down and stay inactive?

Is it just me, or do I have a cause for complaint here?

Has anyone else had problems with this site?

UK Mark, try http://www.casinomeister.com/ since they might have the best casino contacts for an issue like this.

    Good luck, and cheers

Hope you get your money back, I've only played at Pacific Poker with them and unfortunately, I lost the buyin that one time, so never had any experience and/or problems with their payouts.

Well someone on another forum knows someone who works for them and they have pointed me towards the following clause in their small print.

Should you fail to use your account for six months your account will be considered a "dormant account". The six-month period will run from the date of your last login to your account. In the case of a dormant account, the Company will levy a monthly administration fee at a rate of 10% of the balance in the account on the date that it became dormant. The administration fee shall be deducted from the dormant account commencing from the last day of the sixth month in which the account is inactive and occurring on the last day of every month thereafter, until the balance of the account has reached zero . In the event that you login to your account during the ten-month period during which the administration fee is levied, the Company will cease to levy the administration fee but shall not be obligated to return to you any monies deducted from the account at such time.

So I guess I don't have a leg to stand on now? It's just not right though, an administration fee? For what? To me that's robbery made legal by smallprint. Of course it's my fault for not reading it properly but I don't think they should be allowed to do that.

I never understood that kind of fee. If anything, the casino should pay you interest on your cash. See what Bryan (Casinomeister) can do. I'll check with PSR to see if they have any contacts at 888.

                Thanks Bill.

With this and the trouble I am having with SportsbookUSA (which your site is also helping me with) I think I should stay away from gambling altogether! Trouble is I joined all these sites a few years back and I really didn't appreciate the potential pitfalls.

I do not want to sound like a pseudo-lawyer but if Gibraltan law is similar to the UK, then the clause in their terms would (I believe) be open to a charge of "unreasonableness". Just the same as if, say, your bank had such a clause hidden within their small print ... doesnt mean they can actually just start taking your money.

I would be very suprised if such a clause would hold up.

But i am NOT a lawyer.

If 10% is taken out every month, how long before it turns to $0? Answer, a damn long time. From my calculations, after 30 months (6 months no charge then 10% each month) you should still have $50 left. Even after another year you'd have $14 left. So, some money has been stolen from you at least.

Edit: Oops I see, it's 10% of your original balance, not your remaining balance. Even more stupid.
