Farve not even the greatest QB in Packers history?
No matter how many dumb passes he threw and how many playoff games he lost, Brett Favre remained immune to criticism in the second half of his career, writes Sal Paolantonio.

It says more about the incredible Packers' franchise history than about any Favre shortcomings. Favre's accomplishments on many other NFL franchises would have made him the best in franchise history.

Favre is the Cal Ripkin Jr of the NFL. Ripkin will forever be considered MLB's "iron man", but few will consider him the greatest SS of all time. Same with Favre, he'll probably be best known for compiling career stats and his consecutive game streak, but won't be considered amongst the all time greatest QBs any more than Marino is or was. Favre will be remembered for his toughness, his heart, but his stats will probably be considered secondary.

If the Packers continue success after Favre's retirement, I think Favre should deserve some credit for helping rebuild the team. He was a leader amongst young players, allowing Rodgers to mature at a reasonable pace, maybe even teaching the next generation of Packers what it's like to have a heart of a champion.

      Overrated, sorry but it's true.

They never really put a great team around him these last few years though. Still, how is it anytime he throws his customary post season interception or interception in general he's a GUNSLINGER, but when Rex Grossman or others do they're boneheads?
