SBR Site Gotta Be a Money Machine !!
BECAUSE IT CLEALY DRAWS A HIGH PERCENTAGE OF ADVERTISING'S MOST DESIRED DEMOGRAPHICS: THE 18 TO 35YEAR OLD MALES.

When I was in sports marketing this was the group I studied. The Hot Demographics group.

You had to learn their biases, their life-styles, their way of communicating, their buzzwords. Otherwise you would not reach them, nor be able to shake every last coin out of their pockets.

I can't say that I had fun doing it - it was a job. Because even when I was in that age group I was voluntarily outside. Just never liked being pigeonholed. Or "joining" any group. Natural-born contrarian.

I don't know if this site has more traffic than the others of similar bent. There are likely companies that can so track - and also ways to counter the trackers.

I would have guessed that Rx had the heaviest traffic.

But SBR has to be Numero Uno in the cat stat noted above.

The evidence may not be scientifically verifiable, but it submits empirically. (Sorry, guys ; "We can tell by mere observation.")

Predictably, older or otherwise more mature posters now and then kvetch over this, complaining about the impudence, superficiality and rudeness of the Hot Demo group.

One guy, I recall last year, who left this site permanently and in disgust, was a pretty good 'capper of college foots, doing a complete and insightful write-up of the games he was on each week.

The insults and thread hijackings by the Hot Demos drove him away.

With all due respect, the more mature posters, whether in the Hot Demo group chronologically or not --- JUST DON'T GET IT!

Democracy in the 21st century is not about voting, about political control by the people. (In truth, that has never really happened, a nation's direction and destiny is always in the hands of a small minority.)

It's about dollar democracy. Voting with your bankroll. You are what you buy. And those that buy the most are the Key Electorate. The Hot Demos.

This thread is already WAAAAAAY too long for the any true Hot Demo to have gotten this far, so I'll break and return for the rest.

The Hot Demo group, ie, the single 18-35 year old males. Also, the DINKS. (Two Incomes, No Kids). Young childless marrieds, wanting it all.

This is the group with the most disposable or discretionary income. Not the highest income, that would be older white males. But that latter group does not always have the most "disposable" income - not with wife, kids, maybe child support, a mortgage . . .

Companies that advertise want spenders. And, if possible, believers. IE, those who can be reached thru ads, or venues (like a sports betting forum). And with, in general, lower levels of awareness of fact from fiction, less discriminating . . .

A group that will never investigate claims too closely. Who will believe that a beer can be both less filling and have better taste.

A group that not only has that lusted-after disposable income, but are not in the aggregage very smart in the way they dispose of it. (In general -- there are brilliant specimens in every age group and substrata)

You have to be not only on their level, but a part of them. Which is why beer and car companies spend fortunes hiring "consultants" who claim to know the minds and hearts of the Hot Demos (HDs henceforward).

So when Bud or Miller show an ad that makes the HDs look - to older folk - like a bunch of braindead fools --- hey, that's inside stuff, if you ain't there don't knock it. (Most HDs wouldnt know one brand of beer from another, without the label)

This site has the HDs in massive numbers. You don't have to be degreed in anthropology to see that. SBR must be getting pretty good rates, it is absolutely the best gambling HD site.

And for advertisers with a gambling product to sell - cripes, this site for them must by like dying and going to High Profits Heaven.

Don't have to search out the HDs. They're HERE!

And when it comes to gambling, the incomes of he HDs can truly be termed "disposable."

Right. And unlike other sites that wants to attract sports bettors, combines a kind of consumer protection/ombudsman function, that gives it instant credibility.

Pulling in so many HDs was a stroke of genius. How'd they do it? Part III of my marathon thesis on this thread explains . . .

Well, but do gamblers really have a lot of disposable income? The losers have none, and the winners reinvest it all.

Grabass and horseplay are big faves of the HDs.

If you can't grab and play, you don't belong.

jj's appearance here a few years ago was fortuitous for this site, I think. Yes, he aggravates those who are beyond (either age-wise or temperament-wise) the HD prime, but his vids are classic HD entertainment, the right combo of horseplay and grabass.

And he knows sports betting, ie the offshores, where to go for info, like that.

mofome is a more recent addition, but a no less valued asset, re keeping the site a premiere one for advertisers wanting to reach the HDs.

He knows what appeals to the HDs, and how to talk to them (not like I do, way to long-winded and occasional use of ten-dollar words).

I don't know mo, but I'd make it -1000 that he is comfortably inside the age parameters for the HDs.

After the HDs reach a certain critical point, they become self generating. Moths to a flame.

AND: another important addition. The four or five females who post here, exchange ribald comments with the HDs, all that.

To a high income HD who may be a bit lacking socially, wow, a real live and attractive female who will talk with you, even joke about sex . . . . .

It puts the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval on the site.

An absolute stroke of brilliance. The ladies don't know much about sports (except one) but who cares, right guys? The gals in the sports bars don't either, they're just there because the guys are there.

I may be in error, but I think the one that does know sports brought the others in, from one of the AI sites.

If Nancy isn't being paid . . . . well, she's then the biggest bargain since that exchange in Europe offered a free $1000 bet on a football game a few years back.

For the kvetchers, and those who have left due to the rude immaturity sometimes on display among the HDs --- don't leave.

That the site is financially viable is all to the good. As long as it maintains a high integrity in rating the books, and there is no debajo de los aguas (under the table,as we'd say) tomfoolery going on in CR, we are all the winners.

Like, were I a sportsbook I would do everything possible to keep my act clean to get an A rating from SBR, to reach this extremely desirable demographic group.

See, a message board. With fun and game attractions. And of course, lot of sports talk, tho none likely that will make it into a book on wise sports betting.

You just have to (A) keep the message to one sentence, and the sentence to less than 12 words. (Two sentences can sometimes be OK, but better make 'em fukkin short)

                    (B) never ever use a word of more than two syllables. That could make you a pariah among the HD group.

                    (C) Even if you are, personally, the living incarnation of Caspar Milktoast, always, but always, project a macho image. Be you a wienie in real life, among online peers always come on as a foul-mouth Raging Bull.

Now if okdokey replied to the message he received here on this forum about whether he would be in Vegas, replied like this:

Yes. Actually, me and the girlfriend were there last week and went to see this great show from Broadway, Mama Mia.

Really great entertainment. I may even go back to see it next time I'm there.

Okdokey would be in danger of being coldshouldered by other HDs if he posted thusly.

First, he went 4 fukkin sentences. Two too many.

Second, he used a fukkin word of four syllables (entertainment)

Third, he blew the old macho image, by admitting he want to a Broadway musical. Everyone knows the only guys who go to those are gay.

okdokey might have to petition his peers to be allowed back in

                        Oh absolutely.

They have few responsibilites, so if they are working they have a much larger quotient of "discretionary" income than someone making a lot more, but with more financial burdens and obligations.

If they are broke due to gambling, then the places they gambled at have their money. The HD disposed of it, the book or casino was there to collect it.

Someone making only, say 30k a year, can be a much hotter market commodity than someone making 3 or 4 times that.

First, as noted, financial obligations. The single HD, or the DINK, won't usually have as many. Their aim is to "enjoy life," and that means spending money. (It really doesn't, but such is our heavy materialist culture . . .)

And also, as noted, the HD is usually not too discriminating, re the ads and hype. Easy come, easy go . . .

There's more (money) where that came from. Exactly how i felt when in that age group (and beyond,to my regret . . .)

There is, admittedly, another Hot Demographic loose in the land.

                          The Baby Boomers.

When Dad came home from WWII he started making babies like there was no tomorrow.

These were the boomers. Love Children and Hippies in the '60s, aching and malady-striken middleagers and seniors today.

The never-ending, ubiquitous TV ads for pharmaceutical snake oil are all directed to the aging boomers.

After all, why not? In the 1960s their motto was "better living through chemistry," meaning you can and should use drugs to improve or enhance your quality of life.

So, they are prime candidates for the "my pills will make you healthy" broadsides.

When that pharmaceutical Spanish Fly known as Viagra came out some years back I told an elderly neighbor (whom I'm sure had a prescription for it) that in 10 or 20 years they will find out it causes cancer and lots of other maladies

No cancer so far, but the other nasty known side effects are beginning to pile up . . .

                          Ya can't fool Mother Nature.

                              One more note on this:

Marketing triumphs like the one SBR pulled off (two years ago who even heard of this forum - the site maybe, the forum was an unwanted infant) do not happen in a vacuum.

Making the main board a Virtual Sportsbar for the HDs, bringing in the ladies . . .

There was a plan behind all that, trust me. Some marketing genius (in CR?) both planned and executed it.

Who? Dunno. I don't even think it's known who owns this site. Bill D? The departed John?

No one want to step forward and take the bows for this business coup?
