Bill Veek the PT Barnum of sports and then owner of the St.Louis Browns MLB team signed midget Eddie Gaedel as a player.Of course the guy couldn't hit the ball out of the infield so his mission was to take walks.Whatever happened where Gaedel was forced out of baseball?Wasn't that discrimination? If a team employed a midget as a designated hitter today, would they be banned from playing? It's not the hitters fault that he's small and the pitcher can't find the strike zone. The commissioner would say that in his thoughts, the team employing the midget was up to no good.

So did Veek get rid of the midget or did the commisioner do it?I can't seem to get the real story on Google.Would there be an outcry from little people groups today if a midget was banned from playing MLB baseball? They didn't have little peoples advocasy groups back then.

Just think what Robert Earl Hughes, the 1200 pound man that had to be buried in a piano case could do with current sized NHL goalie pads if he was put between the pipes.hehe!
