Did You Ever Vist (or Want To) a Sports Hall of Fame?
As a kid I had a chance to go to baseball's Hall of Fame in Cooperstown NY. A neighbor was taking his kid and 3,4 other boys from the neighborhood up there one summer.

But, I'd had fights with his kid, so passed. And, even tho I was a dedicated Yankee fan, I didn't then (still don't) see the fun in strolling around and gawking at a bunch of plaques, photos and statues.

Yep, when I was a kid. Met Cool Papa Bell, Roy Campanella, Bowie Kuhn, Ralph Kiner and many more ... also watched the HOF game between the Mets and the Tigers, which was rained out in the middle. We were allowed on the field to meet the players and I remember meeting Johnny Wockenfuss, who had hit 2 HR's, and it was awesome.

It is a magical place, especially for kids ...

I live in Toronto where the hockey hall of fame is and been there a couple of times. For a hockey fan it's a fantastic place to be, to see the plaques of the players i grew up watching, as well as reading about some of the old timers from by gone eras. If the other HOF's are anything like the hockey one i'm sure they would be a treat to venture thru.

I've been to the Hockey Hall of Fame twice as I live just outside Toronto, and as expected, it's quite awesome. Also in 2006 I went to Cooperstown and loved it. Basically, the entire town is the Baseball Hall of Fame, as the baseball theme and history goes well beyond the actual HOF building itself. I can't recommend it strongly enough for those who enjoy and have followed the game for a substantial portion of their lives.....

I've been to Cooperstown and spent 2 days in the Baseball Hall of Fame. It's AMAZING. I probably could have wondered through there for another day.

I also have been to the hockey hall of fame in Toronto which is a great place. Unfortunately I'm a leafs fan so there isn't much there for the last 30 years leafs wise.

As an aside the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland is also a great place. Seeing Janis Joplins porche all painted up, the costumes Elton John wore, Jimmie Hendrix on a big screen in Dolby...... also fantastic.

              Cooperstown is a wonderful experience.

I went to Cooperstown in 87 and thought it was great. The whole town and hall of fame was made up so nice and it was like a trip back in time.If you ever want to get a flavor of what life was like in simpler times,a visit to Cooperstown and the hall of fame fits the bill.I hope they didn't screw around with it too much since 87.Maybe it's even nicer now?

I have the american hockey hall of fame 3 miles from my house.I have never gone to it because it's a bust in my opinion. It's like having a baseball hall of fame in Canada. There are a few good exhibits but it's pretty lame from what I hear.It was built 30 some years ago and it has never been self sufficient. All branches of local government subsidise the white elephant and it's nothing but a burden on tax payers.Tons of Chicago people drive right by it on their way to Canada to go fishing and when the place was built, the area socialist politicians said they were going to get those kind of people to visit the hall of fame.Nobody in their right mind is going to delay a fishing trip to go to that place. It's just a place where politicians kids get cronie jobs.

Cooperstown in 1994, thought it was so-so.

I visited friends in St. Louis once and tried to get them to go to the Professional Bowlers Hall of Fame there, their reaction was that I was fortunate to still be allowed to stay with them for the rest of my visit.

I was in sales in my 20s and stayed over in or near Canton a couple times. Thought about going to the NFL HoF, but still can't get excited over plaques and old videos.

And once, in the late 90s, while driving east to west, my '93Chrysler blew an engine on a Kansas interstate. Just a little past the Greyhound Hall of Fame. (I sold the junked car to the shop in Salina Kansas, and rented a car to continue on to Calif)

Me and HoFs don't get along.

Went to Cooperstown for two days as a kid with my family. Absolutely loved it. I am planning on making another trip in the next few years.
