Trying to watch this DET/NYY game for fun and all I can think about is who I would have bet on had I bet on this game. I made a withdrawal today and am now thinking about depositing again too.

I do not think that is a very good sign

grab a number, you're not alone..

when we were kids, it was different. now i'd rather watch paint dry, than watch a game, if i have no money on a game, and i love sports.. but who cares if clippers beat sacramento on a january night. but put 1000 dollars on it, or any money on it... and all of a sudden, you're on the edge of your seat. it's really a shame though. that's one thing i miss about being a little kid. we loved sports for sports.

There was a poster that remarked around March Madness how he was so excited for the games, it stuck out to me because he said he was taking a breather from gambling and was just excited to watch them.

I love talking sports with others whether or not I had money on a particular game, but I just can't watch them the same way unless there's a bet on the line. I am also betting on sports I never enjoyed watching, so it is more about the money and gamble for me too.

I remember growing up how much I use to love the Tigers and remember staying up past 10:00 just to listen to their games out on the West Coast.

The other day an old friend was talking to me about the Tigers and I could have cared less. He was surprised how much I knew though.

I do not know about you guys, but I am almost embarrassed to know this much about sports at this age.

You will be. Give yourself a few more years and you'll abandon all loyalty to your favorite teams and will struggle to watch games in which you don't bet on.

People say that gambling is a lifestyle, I would say it is more a deathstyle.

Yeah this has happened to me as well. Used to look forward to games when I was a kid now I just don't get as excited as much if I don't have a bet on the game. It sucks. If I could start all over I wouldn't bet on sports.

Watching the same game. I have a formula I've used for a few years now, today was the official starting date, but I decided to hold off until the weekend was over. Diogee sent me the list of plays today, since he's helping me track, and it turned out the Tigers were one of the plays. I'm sitting here, trying to get through this game, and I can't even enjoy it. I guess it doesn't help that I'm a Yankees fan. Anyways, I'm with ya, if there's no money on the line, there's no point to watch it, sad but true.

                                Ya got a prob.

It's the endorphin rush in the brain. Same as the chemicals released by many illegal narcotics.

I'd watch college foots and hoops without a bet. And do.

It's not easy to do, but repress the endorphin rush until the end of each season - and then let it flood your brain when you cash out with a profit.

A '70s pornographer named Al Goldstein once said that "pornography is a business where you can be stupid and still make money."

The same is true (within reason) of bookmaking. With caution, a bookmaker can be a moron and still make a ton of money. I've known a few locals who fit the description. Becase the bettors, even if they can in fact outsmart their bookie, too often beat themselves.

Emotions and endorphins are the enemy. So is the bookmaker. Go into a war mode and dump the excess baggage.
