last few times I was in there it was mostly empty. sad to see another of the oldies go; only leaves the flamiingo and circus circus left on strip.

The Sahara is a shithole. Who would ever want to stay there? That part of the strip is run down. I walked by there and was like this is even part of the strip? Wynn needs to buy it up and put something nice there.

Don't feel that bad guys. The sahara made billions off us over the past 40 years or so. Who cares, they milked it as far as it could go. Out with the old, in with the new.

Plus, their sportsbook was the worst ever. Fukk them.

The North End Hotels on the Strip always had their problems. The Stardust existed for as long as it did for one reason and one reason only. It's Sports Book, which was by far the best in Vegas. The Sahara was always a bit rundown. The Riviera was once one of the glamor hotels on the Strip, but has gone down steadily in the past 40 years. I loved the Sands. That is where the High Rollers hung out, epsecially when any or all of the Rat Pack were entertaining. My dad was a contractor and worked on the Tropicaca, Hacienda, Riviera, Dunes, Sands, and Caesars Palace. Those were the glory days of Las Vegas. Today, Vegas is just a yuppie trap. There are very few real gamblers left, which is why the "wiseguys" are still allowed to wager basically any amount they want. The Yuppies, or "meat", will lose plenty and easily cover the sportsbook or casino's losses to the high rollers if that is what happened. Hell, they do not even have any decent Shills anymore.

I use to always stay at the Sahara back in the day. They use to put me up in a vip suite bigger than most peoples house. Sunken tubs, bedet, grand piano. I loved that place. They also had the best steakhouse on the strip with the House of Lords. I knew/know many of the dealers there and it's a shame to see it fall. I saw the decline when they went to $1 blackjack several years ago.

Sports book sucked but it was real small and intimate. You could get in a massage chair nearby and watch the games. The cafeteria had an excellent breakfast (Chicken fried steak was awesome) and good poker room. You could jump on the monorail and get to the other side of the strip easily.

Man, that side of the strip is really getting thin. I started gambling when I was a teenager at slot of fun (nickel craps) then upped my game at the Riviera. Moved on to the Sahara and Tropicana then came full circle at Circus-Circus with the kids.

Things never stay the same...

Circus Circus is jam packed all the time. I would be shocked if it isn't the most profitable MGM property on certain metrics. They serve their niche and do it well.

Sahara is an abject depressing sh*thole. I'll be elated to see that place razed.

Stayed there years ago and it was a dump then. I hate that the economy has turned sour and that people lose jobs but that end of the strip needs a facelift.

Stardust was much more than the sports book, however the sports book was one of the best there ever was.

Stardust back in the day had the largest swimming pool, and the largest casino.
'Dust also had the best show in town Lido de Paris, had that RV parking lot, and offered those six dollar motel rooms in the back.

Sahara 's famous for the rat pack led by Sinatra, been a dump for decades, when the Del Webb money started to go dry.

Trop is downright ugly these days.

Sad to see but Vegas just has too many casinos now and not enough customers. I am sure we will see a few more go soon too.
