There isn't any killer back to back games at all. The only remotely tough games will be @Indy, @SD. Maybe @Buff week 17 if the weather becomes a factor and Bills need the win to get into the playoffs.

Everyone is saying this is a set up...but aren't the schedules kind of set like 4 years in advance? I know the weeks you play aren't, but don't certain divisions play certain divisions each year?

Yes schedules are determined years ahead of time except for two games every year. For N.E. these games are @ Indy week 9 and home vs, Pit Week 13. These games are determined by the fact that the AFC East plays the AFC West and the winner of the AFC EAst will play the winners of the divisions of the other two divisions.

They're not, but anyone who plays in the AFC East has an easy schedule by the fact that the AFC East is the worst division in the NFL. It is all cyclical in nature, in a couple of years the AFC East will be the toughest division and people will not be saying that about anyone from this division. N.E. just happens to be the strongest team in the NFL and at the same time in the weakest division. Hence forth people say that they are catching all the breaks. It really pains me to see N.E. so good but thats the way it is, have a good time this year as your team plays the cheerleading squad in the fourth quarter against my suck team twice.

It's a set up, because they didn't give the Pats any killer back to back games or killer road trips. Also, when they play certain teams makes a big difference.

For example, Game 1, they play the Chiefs at home. The Chiefs are completely rebuilding, and they will be get better later in the year. Game 1 they will be running into each other like a bunch of keystone cops. The Pats won't even break a sweat. Huge setup game to start the Pats off with an easy win.

Same with game 2, facing the Jets away. If your facing the Jets away, you want it early in the season. Pats 2-0, no problem. Now if this game was in December, say week 16, I could see the Jets really playing this game like it's their Super Bowl. As it is, they'll just be trying to hold the team together trying to find an identity for the season.

I could go through the whole season game by game with similar arguments.

If I wanted to make their schedule tough, I'd give the Pats the Cards week 1, which could suprise them, instead of making an Arizona team play in the cold in December. Then I'd make the Pats travel to Oakland for week 2 and play in that heat, instead of the Pats going to Oakland in December when that team will be in tatters and broken mentally, probably with an interim coach.

Just switching those two weeks around would make this schedule completely different!

Yep. I almost expect an instant replay of last season. Pats cruise through the regular season, probably going 16-0 or at least clinching homefield througout before December. Moss & Brady will break all of their own records. But then the playoffs come and when the games count for real, they don't have the toughness and get bounced by somebody hitting their groove at the right time.

Well, if teams aren't ready when the opener comes and can't hold it together for a full season, that's their problem.

No, I thyink my statement was pretty solid. How much do these guys get paid a year? If they can't bring their "A" game at least 16 times, that's their problem.

I made my point. The Pats got a soft schedule. But that's life. It isn't always fair. Kinda like when the Saints went through that hurricane disaster. They were basically homeless. Sucks for them and their fans, but that's life. Hell, the Giants got 9 home games that year because of it. I made my point then too, that the Giants got an unfair advantage over rest of the NFL. But that's all I can do. There's no disputing the facts.

I can't complain, though, because the Packers don't have a super tough division either, IMO. The Bears are down more than they are up. The Lions are always down. The Vikings kinda get into that groove where they almost want to be dominant, but then find a way to screw it up.

I'd hate to be a fan of a team in the NFC east, I mean the Eagles are good year after year, same with the Giants. The Redskins have a historical strong tradition, but are held down by a retard for an owner. The Cowboys will keep pounding away as well. Nobody really wants to see any of these teams on their schedule.

As for the AFC East, the Pats better enjoy it this year, because the lesser teams of the division are bound to bounce back. Miami is too good to stay down for too long, and I see Parcells and Sparano putting this train back on the tracks in quick fashion. I think the Bills might be a suprise team this year, don't count these guys out of a playoff wildcard possibility. The Jets might be bad for a while, though. But who knows, maybe Man-genius can figure out this mess and get it right.

In any case, the Pats have the golden road paved in 2008. The way the schedule is set up, they might as well have given the Pats an extra home game or two. Sure, the other teams are paid professionals and will put on their jock straps and whatever other cliche you want to say. But there's a reason the home team is always favored by 3 points, everything else being equal. There are other factors beyond talent and ability that will give the Pats advantages in 2008.
