They don't make 60k a week. Trust me. Docs put in 5, 12 hour shifts a week. It's about 160 an hour for a successful surgeon. They are also on call on the weekend at times.

I'd become a retail pharmacist. $100K+ right out of college and you can do your job anywhere.

Friend of mine just took a job in Alaska. You sign a 3 year contract and they pay your relocation costs, $10K signing bonus and $1M over the 3 years. After the 3 years, if you like it and want to stay, $500K per year.

She's been out of college now for 5 years I think. She's 29 and has been a PIC (Pharmacist In Charge) since she graduated. The Alaska deal is because they have no pharmacy school in Alaska and no one wants to go up there and work. They can't retain any students from there so they have to sweeten the deal. She's a single girl, decent looking and great personality. She asked me what I thought and I told her I'd be on the next flight to wherever they needed me. Told her I'd come live with her and keep her company for $200K

The standard salary for Pharmacists coming out of college is $100K and it doesn't really increase. So yes, that is true what you heard.

Plus surgeons are on call 24/7 getting calls from nurses all throughout the night, even nights when they have to be up early for an operation early the next morning.

These days you'd be better off going the mid-level route

I'm pretty sure you have to go to pharmacy school after you receive your bachelors. I'm sure there are accelerated programs, but even those I think there's a minimum of 2 years grad school to become eligible to take whatever pharmacy license test you need to take.

Pharmacists go to school longer than just college. But the alaska deal is real, my father just went back into pharmacy after years in a different career and some retail joint in alaska offered him 1mm over 3 too.

And btw most lawyers don't make 1000/hr. Im an attorney and I make 35.

The average podiatrist salary is about 95K/year.

However-----the cost of podiatry school (or medical school, or dental school) is roughly 40K per year.

Physicans attend medical school for 4 years---then complete a residency in a specific speciality-----working in excess of 80-90 hours per week. They graduate with hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loan debt, and as a resident they do not earn more than 56K.

If you want to become rich---be inventive, be creative. There are far easiers ways to make money than by attending medical school.

If I could go back in time I'd be a doctor and get into plastic surgery. Would of graduated in the mid 90s and at the start of the plastic surgery craze. Those are the one's making a ton of cash now.

why would you want to be a doctor. pharmacist makes more sense. how many smelly old women do you want to examine as a doctor. let some other doctor do the dirty work and you can count their sugar pills when the doctor prescribes them.

You don't just go to medical school and choose your specialty. You compete for open spots with residents from all over the nation. Anasthesia and Plastics are the two most competitive and lucrative specialties. You'd most likely end up as a lab assistant for a jr. high anatomy class.

That is true, but inventing and creating is not guaranteed to bring you money. Education, especially medicine, is a lot more reliable for long term constant profit/salary.

you pay a ton of fees for school and get heavy in debt. very stressful post-grad lifestyle.

you gotta pay an arm and a pinkie toe for mal-practice insurance, pay off your debts. by the time you "have it made"

you are paying to put your kids through college, whom you barely know from all your wacky hrs.

Pharmacy school is a 6 year program.

Year 1 and 2: General Electives, normal college classes

Year 3 and 4: Chem, Bio, Stats, and Pharm classes

Year 5: Advanced drugs, Pharmacology, Specialization Classes

Year 6: Rotations. 6 rotations of 6 weeks each. Most do 3 rotations in retail because it's the easiest and it's what everyone is most likely going to be doing. A small percentage go another route. The other 3 rotations are Hospital Care, Research and Nursing. Students must do one rotation at each, other 2 wherever they want.

My friend took this chance to travel and do her rotations. She did 6 weeks in retail at home, Hawaii and Virginia. Then did 6 weeks with the FDA, Walter Reed Military Hospital and a Nursing facility in DC.

Doug, you can still get into medicine kind of and the pay is great and it takes abt 2 weeks training. It is kind of proctology only taught by Roto Rooter. Less than 2 weeks training on that machine and you get a cool van and I promise those guys are making more per hour than most doctors and they don't have to pay malpractice insurance.

                                                  Prices charged are unreal.
