Cutler was benched, he did not take himself out of the game. Had he done the latter then all of this criticism would be justified. And for those of you thin skinned Nancys that need to see him with a limp or on crutches in order for this injury to be "real" turn in your ******* man card. This guy doesn't owe you all anything especially to fake a limp to make this injury appear more real

In my book he's not a fraud just not a great NFL QB. Probably a good 2nd team QB. If your Manning, Rodgers, Flacko goes down you send in Cutler until the starter is well. He simply misses too many receivers at critical times. Recall the 2nd drive against the Packers on a 3rd and 9 they ran about a 18 yard out pattern and the WR was wide open but Cutler sailed the ball 10 yards over his head. It was kind of his signature play. Missing open WR's at critical times.
It's nice to address his actual play for a change.
John, I think you are being a little hard on his play. Is he perfect? Absolutely not. Is he an elite QB right now? Nope. But to compare him to Curtis Painter and say, "eh, six in one, half dozen in another" is ridiculous.
One other thing. The signature play you refer to has been the subject to a fair amount of discussion here in Chicago. Ex-NFL receiver Tom Waddle said it looked like Hester cut the route flat rather than running to the pylon. That's the thing with the Bears. The WRs are really bad. Cutler threw a number of interceptions simply because Knox ran behind a DB rather than in front. Or he stopped rather than going through the DB on the quick slant. Most folks look at the pass and say, "what the hell is Cutler thinking?" Knox is really good at running straight ahead or to the sidelines where contact is limited. The inside route appear to frighten him.
If he gets two NFL caliber WRs and still makes these types of throws, bury him. In the meantime, go easy on the Curtis Painter comparisons.
