He was previously Michigan's D-Coordinator from 1992-1996. The 1997 team he helped build was AP National Champion.

Defense included:

Charles Woodson (12 years pro), Dhani Jones (10), James Hall (10), William James (Peterson) (9) Josh Williams (6), Glen Steele (6), Ian Gold (5) Tommy Hendricks (5), Sam Sword (4), and others.

That statement is true more often than not, but Michigan HAS the athletes. That can not be used as an excuse.
