Connecticut Coach Randy Edsall is expected to become Maryland's next football coach, according to a source with direct knowledge of the Terrapins coaching search. The school will call a press conference to announce the hire Monday, barring any unforeseen developments.

Terrible hire. Maryland thinks this guy will take them big time and sell seats? His offensive teams have been an embarrassment. If he wasn't coaching against Stewart and Wannstadt, he would never have won the Big East.

Like the hire by Maryland, hate the decision to accept by Edsall. He has a better chance of competing in BCS games with UConn than he does with Maryland. Maryland is unable to recruit with in the Mid-Atlantic, being so close to the SEC and having to battle VaTech in their region. The talent in the Northeast isn't as good as the south/mid-atlantic...but there is far less competition.Comment -
Agree that Edsall was in a better position to win at UCONN, even with the addition of TCU. Friedgen was making 1.75M per, so it looks like Edsall will get a nice bump in salary.Comment -

Great point Maryland should have paid Leach, Randy Edsall was great at a school where football is in the background but Leach would have taken a good Maryland football team to the next level and thank god the big east got TCU they will make the big east so much better, because no one wants to see a BCS bowl game 28 pt blow out against a 5 loss team, IMO.
