The greatest feeling in the world...
You see an opener. You know it's off. You bet the wrong side a couple times to keep the line off. The wannabes copy the bad number. You wack the hell out of the right side once the market is sufficient. The game comes in, and you don't just hit it, you friggin middle it with your throw off bets!

Sorry. I'm having a rare gloating moment.

          Well done Justin.

I am not trying to be an arse, but is this considered ethical? Could the books not pay because they consider it taking a shot? Or is it ok, because you actually have a chance to lose both? Just curious. Thanks.

How much do you need to bet to move the line?

It depends on the sport. Openers are cheapest. Against all openers but NFL/NBA/MLB, 2k can move it. Sunday night NFL takes about 20k.

Ethical... I wouldn't call it unethical. I'm paying a price for half-points. Instead of laying 10 extra cents per half on each bet, I'm "paying up front" until the market copies. For the most part, the opening book isn't the one that gets hammer.

Can I lose both? No, but I don't really care about the head-fake bet. If you spend 2200 to move the line, you put an extra 2k on the opposite side. The cost of the line move was only $200.

Only do it at "A+"-rated books. They might get mad at you. They'll threaten to close your account or reduce your limits to $1. They might make you promise to stop... But they will pay you. A+ books will never hold your money hostage.

Justin, tell us some stories about run ins with crappy books, what kind of stuff do books with unsavory practices pull when players attempt this kind of thing?
