I've been blessed with a few. A couple of Cowboy Superbowls, well 4 but who's counting? A couple of Spurs Championships, hmm...3 to be exact , but they all pale to my best.
Whats yours?

2005 Champions League final. Liverpool were losing 3-0 after half-time, made the scores 3-3 within a 10 minute period of the 2nd half and won the match in a penalty shootout.
Soccer doesn't get better than that.

I really do not watch socceer but when I read that comeback in the final minutes shocked me. It is almost impossible to come back 3-0 score while losing especially in 10 minutes. Great comeback reminds me of Buffalo Bills verse Houston Oilers when Buffalo was down by close to 30 points at halftime and Buffalo was missing some great starters and they managed to come back.

Excellent thread idea, John, though growing up an Aggies, Astros and Oilers fan, my great moments are certainly few and far between No championships to speak of except for the 'Stros winning the NL last year, and that was more of a relief after Pujols robbed me of a really great moment in Game 5 of the NLCS.
Though I haven't been a fan from birth, the '96 Yankees coming back on the ATLs from 2-0 to win the World Series that year was a big moment for me. Best friend was an NYY fan, and he passed away earlier that spring, so I had a nice 12:1 ticket from Caesar's in his honor that paid off handsomely. Charlie Hayes catching that foul pop along the rail to end Game 6 and win it (plus Leyritz' homer off Wohlers in Game 4) are the most vivid memories in my head.
There are a bunch Aggie football memories in the bank. But as far as games I was in the stands for, perhaps none are bigger than the 28-21 win over Nebraska at Kyle Field in '98. That one stands out even more than the double-OT win in the Big 12 title game against K-State about two months later.
Being in the stands for Don Nottebart's no-hitter in 1964 and Don Wilson's in 1967, both times with my dad and Wilson's even coming on Father's Day.
Game 4 of the 2005 NLDS with the Astros topping the Braves in 18 frames. Chris Burke's winning blast was an incredible high.
And the Oilers' 35-31 win over the Dolphins in 1978 with rookie Earl Campbell leading the way.

All my greatest sports moments revolve around Team Canadas of hockey. If I had to pick one, it would probably be the Gretzky-to-Lemieux tournament winning goal with time winding down in the 3rd game of the best of 3, 1987 Canada Cup final versus those devil-worshipping Soviets.
Honorable mention to the Paul Henderson series winning goal with time winding down in the final game of the Canada-Soviet series of 1972.
I'm hoping for more great moments in the days to come of the current Olympics (but I'm sweating it out right now).

St. Louis Rams winning the Superbowl in 2000. Mike Jones tackling
Dyson on the 1/2 yd line.
I was very young, but Kirk Gibson hitting that HR against Oakland in
the World Series in 88 was incredible.
I live in L.A but
I hate the Lakers, I have been a die-hard Clippers fan, not a bandwagon
jumper like everyone else is this year. Always rooted against the Lakers.

Launched Valvano's legend. A very important moment in college basketball history. I love seeing him running around with amazement in his eyes looking for someone to hug. It's moments like this that people should live for. He was such a wonderful man and I truly believed him when he much later said he had accomplished what he wanted in this life and he was OK with moving on. His illness gave him a poignant vision and insight that can be so helpful for anyone who ever struggles to understand why we're here.
I don't appreciate much of what Dick Vitale does (he's such a Duke whore), but his continued support of Valvano's cause is indeed admirable.

As a 49ers fan, watching TO catch the Young post pass TD on the last play of the game to send Green Bay home was incredibly satisfying. I remember jumping so high into the air that I hit my head on the ceiling.

Many stand-out minutes. Last added to the list:
Last NFL season, week 2, Cowboys were up 13-0 against Washington late in the 4th quarter. Skinz hadn't even been in the red zone the entire game. You know the story. Brunell connected twice for an incredible 14-13 come from behind victory.
Turns out I had a 14-13 Skinz victory at a free sportsbook contest. First prize: 5K.

Wow! A lot of great games from hockey, baseball and soccer and of course...football American style.
Nebraska's near fantastic comeback in the Orange Bowl over Miami where instead of taking a tie and sharing the national championship they went for two and missed.
~Brothers, that was a game~
...but its still not my best

"Memorial Day Miracle", Sean Elliot beats the buzzer while tightrope walking in the corner of the Alamodome hardwood to seal the Spurs' series against the 'Blazers back in '99......burying the shot with 7ft of David Robinson WIDE open in the paint, while Sean was the only guy in the building who knew he needed a kidney transplant.....

I thought this thread was going to be about YOUR best moment in sports.
I was all set to talk about my free throws I hit in 8th grade gym class to win the Co-ed Phys-ed Shoot-out title. After those shots I made my girlfriend taste leather..blocked her shot at the buzzer. Booh ya! 4'10 coming hard to the rack...what was she thinking!?

Certainly the greatest sports season I ever expierenced was the Spurs winning it all in 1999. We had great teams before that but could not get past the Lakers.
I was a Spur fan when you actually knew most of the 200 fans who went to watch them play in the old ABA. Then somehow we got George "The Iceman" Gervin and Captian Late Silas and Billy Paultz, Colby Dietrich and Larry "Grasshopper" Kennon. I knew if I could just live long enough we could win a championship...By God we did too all be it 25 years later.

Super Bowl XXX--Cowboys V.S. Steelers. For a variety of reasons.
Mainly because I was a lifelong Cowboys fan at that point, and a 3rd Super Bowl loss to the Steelers franchise would have been too much. Also, with so much talent on that Cowboys team, it would've been a shame not to cash one more ring. I was still angry about how Switzer had given the NFC championship to the 49ers one year earlier. (That "down" year was the best Cowboys team during that run, IMO.) But, I was torn because I hated Jerry Jones and his pigeon, Barry Switzer. So, after revelling in the Super Bowl XXX glory, I renounced my Dallas Cowboys fanhood, and renounced rooting for a uniform or franchise blindly in general. It was a coming of age for me as a sports fan. Since then, I root objectively, or at least I try to.

Interesting stuff guys.
Mine is Stockton's 3 in Game 6 at Houston that sent the Jazz to their first NBA Finals in 1997. Of course, they didn't win it all that year or the year after since they were playing 5-on-8 against the Bulls.
From a gambling perspective it would have been Texas Tech's 70-10 win over Nebraska a couple of years ago. I had them -7 for the biggest wager I had ever made at that point in my life, and also had action points on it (unfortunately capped at 20).
From a personal standpoint, it would have been shooting 1-under at Silver Lakes, a Robert Trent Jones course here in Alabama.

$500 straight bet on TT -7 = +$500
$200 straight bet on Nebraska +10.5 (-115) = -$230
$5 action points, 20 point cap = +$100
Total = +$370

well like Bill I thought this was a thread about my own individual achievements...and to be honest I am not the most athletic. Never played in high school or anything like that but did go to the YMCA a lot and play basketball. I was a great shooter and there were a few games where I just caught fire and there was legendary stuff about me at the local Y.
In terms of sports...what can i say other than MSU going to 4 Final Fours...3 of which were when I attend MSU (1999, 2000, and 2001). Of course there is the crown jewel being the 2000 national championship game...I'll never forget that for the rest of my life the feeling I had....if anyone ever watches it there is a shot where Tom Izzo just pumps his fists and swings them in the air in a punching motion....he was so intense that night and so was I.
There is also the 1988 Rose Bowl between USC and Michigan State...i was only 7 at the time and have absoutely no recollection of the game but I purchased it on video last year (yeah i know I have no life) and have watched it now a few dozen times as well as the game that clinched the Big Ten title for MSU against Indiana. Before the past two Rose Bowls...this was generally considered to be the best Rose Bowl of the past two decades or so where MSU won 20-17. What gets me emotioinal is seeing the MSU fans, the flags waving, the fight song playing....and what really hits home everytime I watch it is that there are hundreds of thousands of people who are connected to me who i have never met simply b/c of this moment in time I am forever linked to them ....every time I watch it I think about that day in Pasedena and how wonderful it would have been to be there.

Well BuddyBear, our greatest sports moment came in the same stadium; The Rose Bowl.
Jan 4th, 2006 Texas 41 The Grestest Team Ever 38
Its actually true that I almost got into 2 fights just for questioning a few USC faithful that Texas even had a chance!! For 2 days I listened to USC fans claiming, and truly believing, that Texas had no chance against the Greatest Team ever. They beat Okla 55-13 the year before and they thought it would be even worse!
Even in the game USC had almost no respect for Texas. On the deciding play, the 4th and 2 from the Tex 40 with 1:19 left in the game, they ran the ball up the gut with their 2nd best running back !!! No respect at all. 2 yards guys!! You pass on 4th and 2 or you at least put the best player in college football in if you are going to run it.
Then of course Texas zipped down the field with ease against the Greatest Team ever and stuck the ball where the sun don't shine.
So my greatest sports moment is watching the Greatest Team ever beaten at home by a team that had "no chance". Next time they hear "The Eyes of Texas" they are going to know that games are won on the field and not by Greatest Team fairy tales.
