Hearing a lot of people closing their accounts when they lose
How do you actually do it? Do you call TheGreek or 5Dimes customer service and tell them: "Look I have $0.00 balance on my account. Can you please close it?"

I haven't heard a lot of people saying they're closing their accounts. I have only heard one person say this, fightingwarrior.

Sometimes people try if they "clicked through" a place they no longer want to help fund. Good books won't let you close your account if that's the case. They close it and then reopen it later. On a somewhat related topic I always loved the no action rule, books said if you didn't have any account activity for a period of time they would confiscate your money. If you go to prison give someone your password!!

Just tell them you have a gambling problem and have been advised that in order to resist further temptation you would like ur account closed. Saves all the bs pressure tactics from company reps as to why u wanna close ur account etc as given this reason they are now legitimately obliged to close ur account without the sales tactics...A 'loophole' used 4 those that are unable to help themselves...You better be listenin to this warrior....GL

well said this is how you do it.
only problem is that if you want to re-open your account even like 5 years from now they may not do it. some sites consider it irreversable if you close your account due to problem gambling

Probably already at $0 and counting that as "closing."

I doubt that, why would they turn down a problem gambler?

honestly not really sure, but the good books will do it.
I would say protection from legal action, but since they are overseas im not sure if that could even come about.

Let's say the actually do close your account.
Do you really think they are going to say no if you decide to re-open it?

OK guys thanks for the input. It appears that the best thing to do when your account goes dry is not to close it. You may need it in the future.

Why bother closing the account?
I still log into Pinnacle every day and I can't actually wager there since mid 2007.

Because in most 1st world countries the government has laws that prevent books from preying on self confessed problem gamblers. Book is actually legally liable in this situation if they take on additional action after a client has confessed to having a problem. Least thats how it is in Oz...GL

Depedns on the context upon which account was initially closed. even if they do say no chances are there are hundreds of other books out there offering initial deposit bonuses etc with just as good lines that will be more than happy to swallow ur hard earned....GL
