#2Not a chance. Favre's record will be there for a very long time, if not forever.Comment -

#4I think it may be possible, but you have to ask yourself if you think Peyton will play into his 40s or not. The ONLY thing I can think of that would give Peyton the urge to play that long is his competitiveness with Eli. If Eli wins more championships, Peyton may want to stick around longer and see if he can do it.
Obviously toughness is not an issue with this guy. The question is whether he will DECIDE to play that long (it is impossible to speculate on future injuries).
In all honesty, I think this record falls in the realm of untouchable based on how physical the game is nowadays. 297 consecutive starts is comparable to Cy Youngs 749 career complete games. This record is just not possible anymore because the game has changed so much.Comment -

#8I agree that the record is likely to not fall in any of our lifetimes, but I think it is in a sense easier to achieve now, considering all the rule changes geared toward protecting the quarterback. Now you can't even hit a quarterback low.Comment -

#9It's possible Eli Manning could as well. They are good at presnap reads and knowing when they will have time and when they will have to hit hot routes. This means they both get sacked less. They also don't go for rushing yards and take unnessesary hits. Yeah some of it comes down to toughness, but a lot of it comes down to smarts. BF was tough, PM and EM are smart.
The streak might come down to if the Manning boys want to keep playing at or around 40. Peyton Manning will be able to if he wants. He's big, smart, and even if his physical skills deteriorate some that's not what makes him great.Comment -

#13How did Favre manage that in the first place? He was getting wrecked on multiple occasions pretty much every game for the last two seasons.Comment -

#14I'm guessing no. Not many people are stupid enough to continuously subject themselves to injury in their 40s like Brett. By the looks of it, even Brett was prepared to go this year. Who knows though...like mentioned above, maybe Eli's winning keeps Peyton around.Comment -

#15some games through the years, he really didn't play, he "started" and then they took him out right away so he could have his record extendedComment -

#16If there is a change to an 18 game NFL season it is possible. If he plays 5 more years (retire at 39).
Currently Favre 297, Peyton 205.
Three more games this season takes him to 208.
5 years of 18 games will take him to 298, breaking the record by 1.Comment -
