#2Love the sport, but you can't beat that game.
I only go to the track for entertainment and for the big stakes races. Triple Crown,Breeder's cup, etc.Comment -

#5cobra w/ what kind of money management?
You have to get inside info and be at the track every day to personally speak w/ the trainers and owners involved IMO.Comment -

#7It has changed over the years depending on the take out on bets and the types of bets offered. For example, up until about 5 years ago i played Superfecta's and Win 4's alot. Stopped doing it when they brought in this 10 and 20 cent nonsense, as big scores are hard to come by when it gets pieced all over the place. Right now i concentrate solely on betting to win and the odd big carryover day. Never, i repeat NEVER bet across or the board. Or even to place for that matter. Quickest way to the poorhouse. I also only play my local track which keeps me right ontop of things.Comment -

#8This isn't true. As i stated i also own horses and am in the paddack almost every night and needing inside information is just a fallacy. I"m not saying that there isn't good information sometimes, but for every one good piece there might be 20 pieces which belong in the trash. My own trainer will tell me from time to time when he thinks his horses in his stable will run big, but he can't account for his competition and how finely tuned they are. As for proper money management, i adhere to the saying that it's one long card, and never chase to get even and never ever have "action" bets. The games tough enough to win at without making bets that over the course of time aren't money makers.Comment -

#9A few more questions if you don't mind. . .
What's your local track?
On an average 10 race card, how many races per day you play as well as how many horses per race?
What's your goal of winning % per bet?
Are you flat betting your races or betting more depeding on your confidence in the horse?Comment -

#10Local Track is Woodbine/Mohawk. As i said i play standardbreds exclusively now.
As for how many races i'll play a day, i'll answer that as how many i play per week. The cards are designed so that the better horses/races are carded on the weekends so that gives me more opportunities on the weekend. So during a week i'll play maybe 8-10 races. Maybe 1 on a monday night, but 4 on a Saturday.
I've consistently been able to win about 30% of what i bet throughout the year, over the last several years.
I used to flat bet every horse no matter what the odds. However this has changed now that the tote system has changed, and on my personal betting machine i can bet an exact number (i.e. $134, $235 etc.) Before this change i couldn't do this and since i bet at the very last second, flat betting was easier. Now i bet to win a certain amount with each bet as my research from my past bets show this will yield me 17% more profit over the long haul.Comment -

#11Thanks for info
I just never got into the harness races. . .
You find them easier to beat or just prefer them?Comment -

#12I was successful at both, but when i got married i really had to choose one or the other and since i owned harness horses (because they race once a week rather than once a month) the decision was easy.Comment -

#13Not sure on Brock, but what stats are you looking at for US? He's been posting for about a month and by his own totals, has posted losses just about every day in the Win and Place bets that he's making?
Check the last page of his threads for his own totals. I'm not seeing any winning days. One day, I saw a profit in the win category ($31) with losses ($16) in the place category.
Didn't see any other winning days, although I didn't check all the days.Comment -

#15I don't believe that would be the case. Even at the 9% rebate that he gets (his words and no reason to not believe it) for every 100 bets he makes he'd have to lose no more than $18 to break even. It's clear that he's losing more than $18 for every 100 bets he makes. Add in his 2 bridge jumping losses that i've seen, ( i don't follow it every day so there could be more) and no chance he's ahead. The thing is, i wish he was ahead. I have alot of respect for people who attempt to beat this game and put the effort into it that he clearly has.Comment -
