#4Al Sharpton says that Obama is not black
Yes, but according to the professional blacks like Al Sharpton and the Right Reverend Jackson, Mr. Obama is not "legitimately" black. I have no idea what that means. But they are the experts.Comment -

#6He is black but he is not an African-American like them. His father or his ancestors were never slaves and this is what makes him different and that's why republicans are scared of him to death because they know McCain has no chance against him.Comment -

I heard a representative of Sharpton try to explain this and she was mostly talking about the urban ghetto black experience and saying that Obama was not from that "culture". I thought this was preposterous because the urban ghetto is not the experience of the minority. I also think it is a stretch to call the urban ghetto a "culture".
She also said that Obama did not share in the "struggle". I guess she was talking about the civil rights struggle. If by this she means that Obama did not march with Dr. King, that would apply to the vast majority of people in this country. If by that she meant that he has not been discriminated against and so shared in the "struggle" that way, how could she possibly know that?Comment -

#9Are you saying that is what Sharpton and Jackson are talking about when they say Obama is not a "legitimate" black person? But how do Sharpton and Jackson know if they are descended from slaves or not? And what does that have to do with anything anyway? A person's value system is shaped by many factors having to do with things that happen in the here and now, not what their ancestors did 200 years ago.

#14Obama in November
Well well well, if it isnt the age old question "Are we ready for a Black President" and my answer to the SBR family is of course we are. American is stuggling right now and what better person to have the job as president with a stuggling country than someone who knows what it means to struggle...A BLACK MAN!!!
He sees the economy struggling, teachers only want to teach to get a pay check, Jobs are dropping out of the US to go overseas, Families cant eat because they dont make enough money, economic and social racism, African Americans (including myself) have been through this and is still going through this to this day so yes he is the man for the job
Companies trade in their white sheets and hoods for business suits and briefcases and call themselves CEO's leaving blacks and latinos struggling to find decent work.
Kids cant get the proper education because teachers arent properly fit to educate today's children or just dont give a ****, textbooks are out of date, schools are closing because they dont have the funds to operate.
Companies rather hire illegals who cant speak english and pay them less instead of hiring Americans who can do the job, Obama sees all this.
Families with loved ones overseas at a war (which Senator Clinton voted in favor for) where we really dont know why they are over there. Being deployed 4,5,6 times out of the year. FOR WHAT?
Struggle is something Senator Clinton, Senator McClain, Romney, Huckabee, Edwards no nothing about. But Senator Obama, from the south side of Chicago can relate to the country problems

Yes, another black would be Shawn Kemp for instance. Shaquille O'Neal is black. RASHEED WALLACE, now there's a black for you. Let me think, there are many many others. Let me see. Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, remember that guy? He's definitely black. Allan Iverson. Jon Amaechi? NOT black, not even close, really.
Oh yeah, LATRELL SPREWELL, one of the greatest blacks of all time. Of course Julius Erving. No but Latrell Sprewell, perhaps the apotheosis of black. Is America ready for a Sprewell/Wallace tandem in the White House? NO WAY. But it would be a truly truly awesome country if we could have that. It would cure most cases of depression in the US instantly.Comment -

Another thing to think about is, imagine if Bush's brain were in Obama's head, and the words Bush says came out of Obama's mouth. Can you imagine?? Obama wouldn't be able to get away with for 2 minutes what Bush has gotten away with for a decade.Comment -

This is a typical post of blacks blaming everything on whites or someone else instead of taking care of business themselves. Minorities have more opportunities than whites nowdays so your comments are some of the most racist idiotic statements I've seen on this board yet.Comment -

#23I just read the teachers comment because Seer quoted it. My pops is a Teacher and he takes tremendous pride in what he does. it doesn't get any worse than his childhood and where he grew up, but he struggled to get what hes got and now he takes great pride in teaching elem school kids. he gets letters from kids all the time about how much they appreciate him. kids come back from after 5+ years to say hello or give him letters. a girl he used to teach actually works at a local restaurant, by chance, this is a girl he happened to take some school work and a christmas present when she got sick and really had no support from her house. he goes to hid kids soccer, baseball, and basketball games almost every weekend. so, uh, what?Comment -

#25Obama has a better shot than Hillary if McCain is the opponent. The people on the right hate Hillary so much that the ones that don't like McCain will stay with the party. If Obama is the nominee, he can kiss the south good by but the Northeast and west will pull through for him. If he picks up a couple of mis western states will some voting electorate points he is in.Comment -
