    2008 Probables: McCain-Huckabee VS Obama-
    vs Obama-Edwards

If a book were posting something on this score I'd take a shot, wih decent dog odds.

McCain/Huckabee I consider a lock, as I explained in another post. In fact, I believe it's a done deal already.

Picking Obama at this stage over Clinton is a bit riskier. But: he's looking good in the rest of the Feb primaries. Sure, Hilly looks like a winner in Texas, as los senores y las senoras will vote for her.

So it could come down to for whom the so-called Super Delegates at the convention cast their votes. And if I understand it right, Hillary is not well respected among many of the political insiders in the Demo Party, those who will be the Super Delegates.

Plus, if they blow off Obama in favor of Hilly in a brokered convention, assuming he tells her to take the veep job and shove it, they will anger a lot of theier hardcore African-American voters, one of the party's major bases.

I think the Super Dels go for the black guy. And he needs a white southerner to take a bit of the melanonim off the prez team, give the pale folks a crumb or two. And Edward seem most logical, tho losing as veep last time out won't help him.

"Brokered Convention" is about to become the new political buzz phrase as people begin to recognize that superdelegates might select the Democratic candidate, as opposed to the actual people who went out to vote in the primaries. In addition to that, the absurd handling of the Florida and Michigan delegates by the DNC is going to come into play in a big way. There's no way they'll let the original results stand for these two important states, because candidates were not allowed to campaign and that is the strong suit of Obama. That means they'll have to hold caucuses in both these states which will further delay the ultimate decision. I would not be surprised to see litigation playing a significant role in who wins the nomination thanks to the circus that is the DNC. Thanks, Howard Dean.

But I think it's better the way the Dems do it in a majority of the primary states, with proportional representation, rather than the "winner take all" kind of thing that the GOP practices.

A strange situation we've come to, but fitting near the End of Empire: a 3 way contest pitting The Evil Witch, the African King, and The Manchurian Candidate.
