#5Not a damn thing is going to come close to getting settled on the Democratic side, and John McCain will all but shore up the Republican nomination. Now that that's settled, you can spend less time anxious over "Super Tuesday" and devote more time to sports investing...Comment -

haha you think the dem will still be up in the air? there is a lot of excitement in politics around DC for the first time in a long time. its typically the boring nonsense day in and day out, tomorrow should be special. You tried to take the fun out of it for me though.
any books letting you bet on who the states go to?Comment -

As for state betting---Bookmaker was taking action on states up until a couple of weeks ago (I know a lot of folks went belly up with Obama in NH at long odds there), but said they were discontinuing political props. Tradesports is your best/safest bet on individual states now. I've even made money there with gubernatorial elections in the past. GL...Comment -

#9Sorry Mofo about playing party pooper, but it really looks like tomorrow is just going to highlight how close this thing really is. Neither Hillary or Obama will even come close to the delegate count they need to even be established as a front runner. The good thing for you if you love political anticipation is that we'll have 2-4 months more of a tightly contested primary. Tomorrow will be a very boring night with McCain sealing the deal and neither Obama or Clinton making any sort of headway. I don't think we'll see a brokered convention with the exit of Edwards, but I do think we'll see this thing possibly go into May (I don't think the June states will come into play). I also think that this primary going on for so long might potentially hurt the Democratic winner in the general election.

thanks for that reply. yeah i cant stand having a day with all of these states being determined at once, but it could have made for an entertaining 24 hours. im want Maryland to matter the following Tuesday, i want this thing to drag out, i want to see more debates. i dont think either has separated themselves as far as im concerned. i would vote Biden, but hes out and so im still up in the air, but leaning.Comment -

Democracy, i.e. the voting process, in this country has been, and is being hacked.
Literally.

Get the voting process out in the open, and safe from easy hacks. Until then, democracy is already dead.Comment -

Decriminalization of marijuana is such a fringe issue and so far outside the scope of the office that it is a 100% certainty that there will be no -change- on that front.
Getting us out of Iraq may have its merits, but the real issue is how that should be done. We're finally yielding some positive results with that project and your suggesting we should put the reins in the hands of someone who has no military training or experience. Someone whose only focus is to remove our presence there and effectively destabilize the region once again. While Obama had a winner with this issue 6 months ago, things have changed and he's going to have to come up with something better if he wants to win the ultimate prize.
This is my problem with Obama. He speaks inspirationally about generalizations based exclusively on change. A lot of style and very little substance.Comment -

#25Now that's the tough question. As is often the case, it comes down to selecting based on who I dislike the least. I anxiously and apathetically await the appearance of a true outsider. Based on what is currently available, I would go with Clinton on the left side and McCain over on the center/left ticket. Although both disgust me, they seem to have the most pragmatic approach to the issues and more importantly they are least likely to destroy the fragile economy, which will ultimately become the biggest issue of the general election.Comment -

#27I think you have a good chance of both being the nominees. Pragmatic isn't bad, but I feel like we have had "pragmatic" (read: polictically connected, part of the political machine, lobby driven) for too long. Pot might be a small issue, but honestly, the fact that a legit canadite has a good chance to win while having what I consider is the correct view of the issue, while long being seen as so extreme is a big deal to me. Truth is too scary for most people who run for president, they focus group it, they run it by the drug companies, and then they just shut up about it.Comment -

Voted to fund it. Twice I think. Has made belligerent noises about Iran. Has suggested we post troops in Pakistan. Has a disguised neocon, Dennis Ross, as his principal Mideast advisor.
But we'd assume he'd do better on Iraq than Hillary, who has never admitted her error in supporting the war, only that she was "deceived." With a Prez Hil, at least 50,000 US troops will be in Iraq, well, forever. Just like her likely opponent, Johhny Boots, wants them to be.
Some choice.Comment -
