You either have gambling instinct and money management or you don't. Most of my winnings come from split second decisions on a flaw I noticed during the game regarding a specific team while watching the game.

You've got experience and I have no reason to think you are a square. For those that are, however, record keeping should help them understand why they suck. Whether they do anything with the info is a different question all together.

My guess, many players bleed money live-betting as you suggest. Personally, live-betting is hit or miss for me.

The biggest advantage with live betting is you can hedge your bet many times during the game with bigger middles. You can get both sides on +7 in a football game. This is huge.

Also after watching some of the game you realize one team is superb than the other or there are indications the game might be fixed or headed in a certain direction you can bet accordingly. Injuries also affect the outcome. For example yesterday once I saw Delhomme was going to play for the Browns I unloaded on the Falcons.

Record keeping is the most important thing anyone can do. I foresee one day when there is a sports betting tracker, much like pokertracker or holdem manager, that calculates everything for you.


Steam, hedges, weak lines, etc etc etc but most importantly your "own" picks. I assume almost noone keeps track of when they bet, when the lines moved, when it was actually optimal to bet, how much +EV they are giving up by betting at a certain time given their betting patterns, and the list goes on and on of things that could be figured out and plugged exponentially.

Lets get some facts straight:

1. You do not even have $200 to become an SBR Pro
2. You take your daily points and run directly to the Pointsbook. hell, last night you couldn't even wait til you made your first post. You took 2 and then 4 after you woke up in the morning
3. Given this, I highly doubt you have $100 let alone $10,000 to escrow

I'd say I actually fit 1, 2, and 3. I am pretty sharp at NBA/NCAAB totals, that is my specialty that I have spent hundreds of hours perfecting the math behind the plays. I have one book with a good amount in it solely for those plays with a solid money managment. Then I have a few books with small amounts in them I use for other plays I like, tailing guys, ect.. for small wagers and never usually get too high or low with those accounts. Then I have one book I use no proper money management on, play crazy parlays, use their casino, and just screw around on, mostly making plays just for action.

players are just not disciplined enough to stay on top of their ability to perform money management skills along with the ability to pass tv games etc. the mental part of betting is not addressed here. 95% of players will press when they're down. maybe it's only a small amount going into the sunday night game. so they bet it despite it being a bad play. no discipline will cook out anyone.
