Secondly, Mike Singletary is a moron. He is committed to wanting to win but just not that saavy at X's and O's (which are what really counts). I knew he wasn't going to be that effective the first day I saw him on TV with a Jesus cross hanging from his neck. Religion isn't gonna draw up plays for you nor scout you the right talent. This man believes pastoring will make him effective on the gridiron.

Look at coaches like Belichick and Bill Walsh....it was all about talent evaluating and smart play calling with them. Singletary is just the opposite....nothing more than a hype man - disciplinarian.
    Agreed.

Singeltary is all balls and no brains
Balls is overrated for a head coach, the NFL is a thinking man's game
Norv Turner is all brains no balls... Not good, but you could have a LB coach be the ass

Singeltary needs smart OC's and DC's and his black offensive coordinator is the worst in the league

He could play Dungy, but he needs a Manning ( only 1 team gets peyton), or he needs smarter coaches

What is perfectly clear is that he's all motivation, zero x's and o's...

      Yeah, something ain't right there.

But still, five games is not all that large a statistical sample, and think about how the Niners keep losing -- fumbles, bad bounces, etc. It's a shame that you don't get a lot of leeway as a coach in the NFL. That team looks like they could easily be 3-2 and then no one would be talking about this.

Having said that, they've been the most mistake-prone team in football for a while, and sometimes change for change's sake is good.

I agree they could be a 2-3 team easily....but I am telling you unless he changes his philosophy and attitude a bit he will never be more than a mediocre coach in the long run.

(It wouldn't hurt if the Niners could draft a Sam Bradford type QB as well.)

As a 49er hater I hope they keep Singletary, as long as he's head coach this team will suck-Mike was a great football player and may be a good person, but he has no clue about being an NFL head coach. He is way over his head coaching this team-which has a lot of talent but does'nt know how to use it.

I wish the NFL would somehow allow the 49ers and Patriots to trade their entire 53 man rosters. I bet Belichick could make a deep playoff run with this 49ers team. The talent is there, maybe one of the top 10 talented teams in the NFL at this moment. The craziest thing is that this 49ers team is probably more talented than the Patriots roster right now and I bet Belichick would absolutely love this kind of trade. I'm not even ragging on the Pats, the 49ers have simply been picking at the top of the draft (and making reasonable draft picks) for so long that they are totally stacked with talent

I feel bad for Singletary, but he was simply not ready when he was hired as HC. He needed several years as DC and assistant HC somewhere to really learn the finer points.
the way i see it is this, with many coaches and former players. if singletary doesn't know how to coach by now after being around football and hall of fame coaches and players for 40 years he isn't the guy. you have it or you don't period end of story. get someone else in there.

Obama is all book smarts and no real world practicality and has no nut sack

I don't see anything that dictates Singletary will be anything other than a middling at best coach. Don't get worked up over Singletary or the niners this year. There is nothing there coaching or playerwise.

They should go to Stanford & convince Jim H. to be next HC, so he can punk P. Carrol in NFC west. Get some Rivalry going.

They need a new HC and QB, just like the Dolphins do. Otherwise both teams would be competing for a Superbowl.

i don't like him because he is goofy looking, and he walks funny. and he's as bad of TV hungry diva than half of the players in the league. sometimes it seems like he doesn't care about the game, he just wants his TV time. he always has that look on his face like he doesn't know what's going on. oh yeah... and he's a bad coach.

He do like some things about Singletary and it was inspiring to see him light a fire under Smith yesterday. The final straw and the reason I would fire him this week is because of the Eagles game. He knows his job is on the line and they can't beat and Eagles team which seemed at times to have half the club injured. They are at home on a Sunday night national game and still can't get it done. The Browns would have won that game. The 1976 Bucs would have won it. The Eagles were at the mercy of the opposition many times and SF still lost. That was one of the worst loses I've seen. Pathetic is what it was. The fumble by Clemons to lose vs Atl the week before tells me Sing is cursed.
