OT-Who's sleep schedule is all screwed up like mine?
Am I the only one that has a fvcked up sleep schedule? Every winter I get into this bad sleeping schedule, and this year my wife is pissed off at my little quirk. It never phased her I guess when we were just dating, but now living together she hates it. I work from 7AM to 12PM, get home by 1PM, sleep until 7PM, do whatever errands and crap I have to do, review hours of blue prints, job costs, orders of change, watch games, go online, etc, go to work, repeat. No kids yet, which is good, but shit is kinda fvcked up I guess, from other peoples point of view. Like tonight, cooking steaks on the grill at 3:00 in the morning, wife aggrivated at me and vacuming at 4:00 in the morning, neighbors must think we're fvcked up people. In the summer though, I wake up at 5:30AM, go to work, work out, do all my crap from work and errands, and then go out with my boys or the wife. This is normal to me. It just feels right during the Winter. So bottom line...In your opionion am I really that crazy?

No sounds like a great schedule...mine is pretty screwed up as well since I have no set schedule for work and just go whenever I get called to go. Grilling steaks at 3 am seems like a great idea to me...might have to give that a try.

My grandfather when he was alive would say, "You get plenty of sleep when you're in the ground." Guess he had a pretty good point. lol.

Glad to see people are on my side and don't think I'm crazy. I better show this to the wife and prove my point before the day crowd comes in. Insomniacs unite!

P.S I overcooked the steak a little, but it was still pretty good. lol. Got the wife to make a small pot of mashed potatoes, even though she was pissy tonight. You guys should make somethin too. Screw the neighbors.

Yeah, I've had a wacky sleep schedule my whole life. I use provigil once in a while if I want to try to stay awake, and sleep md (basically melatonin with some herbs), diphenhydramine, or klonipin if i want to get to sleep.

Never used Ambien, but I've heard it works great. I prefer to use more subtle stuff though for sleep aids.

Whatever works. I've got a similar sleep schedule right now. Yes, I think it is a winter thing. At least for me it is. During the summer, I try to arrange stuff around outdoor activities, so my daylight hours need to be wide awake, more or less. But, in the winter, everything is inside anyway. It really doesn't matter when what is done. Personally, I prefer getting groceries at 3 am. The roads are free of traffic, and the stores are nice and quiet. I am in paradise, alone in the universe.

My wife hates it too, I will be watching TV and fall asleep at like 930PM, moved to the Bedroom and I cant get to sleep I actually have stayed up till 4 or 5 and then get to sleep I work on my own schedule so this is not a big deal but then when I finally do sleep its like for three hours. I have tried everything up to three ambien sometimes and it does not even work....I have talked to a doc and they say with my elevated blood pressure that it will make your mind race.....

Yea the gambling keeps me up. Wife despises it. Now that I have discovered the channel surfing site, and I can watch every game I bet on, family time has gone down the toilet. Before I found channel surfing, I could bet on a game and forget it because just watching the scoreboard didn't cut it. Now I can watch every game for free and my wife despises it.

The past four and 1/2 years has been crazy. It started with a midnight to 8 am shift which lasted 18 months. I would try to sleep in the daytime which isn't that easy. I tolerated it but never truely adjusted. Next came 7pm to 3am shift with a job change. This lasted 18 months also. This was allright. The next change wasn't so kind. 3am to 11am. Pure physical pain in which I never adjusted completely. It was like living in a limbo/purgatory energy field which lasted one year. The one bright spot was it was a great schedule for playing the ponies.I'd get off work play the east coast, then the west coast,go to sleep then work and repeat the process. My health suffered. I gained 25 lbs and had no energy to exercise. My current work schedule is 10 pm to 6 am. Its more balanced. As long as I can get to sleep before the sun rises I'm good for 6 to 8 hours and I'm good to go. I think this could qualify as abnormal. But in many ways I like it. I had the chance to go 9to 5 and declined.
I've used melatonin which is effective and basically safe. It has a minor dulling effect on my workouts however. A co-worker as started using Ambien and says its great.
