#4Barkley does too sometimes on Thursday Night. I can even get a feel of who he's on by the way he talks about the teams.Comment -

#5he's on OSU and over i believe, he'll bring up the total if it's going to be close and a basket or two will get him the over, look for it if it's close in the last minute or two. love the guy.Comment -

#6It beats the FOX crew picking moneyline winners.
I'm not a Brent fan at all but would rather have him and Al Michaels bring up the spread as compared to the whole FOX crew just picking the winner of the game. It's a hoot when New England plays Miami and they are sitting at the round table mulling their pick to win the game outright. Why not just come out and say it adds nothing to the show picking outright winners and we are going to go by the point spread.
The NFL and all pro sports leagues have to say that gambling isn't part of the game,is evil and they act ignorant that if it wasn't for gambling, they would lose a major portion of their fan base.Comment -

#8Whats wrong with bringing up the spread. There is a reason why the fans roar when some backup is breaking tackles for 6pts...Comment -

#9not only does he mention the spreads of the games he broadcasts, but also other games. Tonight he said Tennessee is a 5 pt favorite (meaning he must have action on it)...i got Alabama +5.5 though.
Brent is one of the best out there....true Midwest guy. He's the Big Ten version of Dick Vitale.Comment -

#12I notice it more and more the last couple years, various announcers hinting at the pointspreads, etc. Maybe I never really paid attention before I got into sports betting.Comment -

#13Well they do print the point spreads in most major newspapers in the country, and the websites of those newspapers. In NYC, the Post and the Daily News even include "bettor's guides" for football playoffs, and of course every week during football season have detailed pick analysis by various writers.
So the fact that it feels funny to hear announcers even mentioning the betting lines just shows how entrenched the hypocrisy about sports gambling is.Comment -
