What kind of moron would get ripped off going to the Super Bowl?

On any of the biggie sporting events from The Kentucky Derby to Daytona to the NCAA final 4 to the Olympics to the grand daddy hyped ripoff of them all,the Super Bowl,the fans attending get hosed in every which way.

Then what makes it worse these days is all the homeland security BS where you get searched and herded like cattle being told what to do and where you can go.etc.Then what if something actually did happen where you got caught up in a terrorist attack.

Who wants to pay inflated prices beyond belief to go to these events and then hotel prices are jacked up 400%,a bottle of beer costs $9 and some crappy food costs $$$$$$$$.

Then you see the beautiful celebrities who wouldn't dream of going to any other regular car race,horse race or game show up for these big events and they get treated like royalty while the most ardent fans that show up every week get treated like shit.

Has anyone here ever spent a fortune going to the big events and been disappointed when they got home thinking they could have spent 4 days in Vegas,had more fun,had a chance to win $$$$ and would have spent 1/5 th the amount of money.

Hey I bought really good tickets to the super bowl for $149.50 yard line a few rows back. Of course, Tampa Bay didn't actually go to the super bowl so now I have some nice souveniers.

Damned if we do and damned if we don't scenario. People complain that they have to go through security checks, but then would bitch and sue if there weren't security checks and something happened.

Same thing at airports. I'd just as soon they said, "Show up naked and you can dress after you get through security." The last few times I've been through the San Antonio Airport, it's like they went out of their way to hire the nastiest, rudest folks they could find to work at the security spots. Either that or they hired good-natured people and the job itself turned them sour. As you approach the checkpoint there is an overhead speaker telling you what you're expected to do, only you can't really hear that because the security folks are hollering out their own instructions.

In Denver a couple of years back I got pulled aside and shuffled off to a little room for a very thorough search. Why? Not sure, maybe something in my shoes (this was before they made EVERYONE remove shoes). I had zero in my pockets, no belt, no cap, no cell phone, no laptop. But I was still pulled out and sent to a room so I can undo my britches, remove my shoes and socks and go through a complete pat down.

I'm far more worried about a problem with the hydraulics or electronics on a plane than I am any terrorist. Maybe someone will pull a stunt at a major sporting event, but I can't really let that stop me from going. If I do, I might as well go through life with my hands in the raised surrender position.

You can only justify spending 5k+ to go, if you are a easily a millionaire, otherwise you are blowing your retirement or kid's college money or something along those lines.

I'd go if given tickets ( I couldn't sell), but I have no great desire to go.

I was in Atlanta once and one of the so-called security guards decided to give me a hard time. If you have seen any of my posts on here you can figure out how that turned out. Anyway, it ended up with them insisting that they do a strip search. At first I was going to force them to forcibly strip me, but I decided what the hell. I just didn't get behind the screen, I took my shirt off in front of everyone else in line. A woman behind me said "Oh my god"...you see bullet holes realy **** up your back, and there isn't really a way to remove the scars short of cosmetic surgery which I won't do. A female security guard, I think she outranked the jackass security guard said "what happened to you"? I said "I was in the first gulf war and was shot". She said, "so you probably don't sympathize with the terrorists". I said "probably not". She told me to put my shirt back on and sent me on my way. The airline gave me a free upgrade to first class.

The terrorists don't have to do anything to hurt us. Since we started investing on Iraq's infastructure and we left our own not maintained, repaired, or upgraded they can just watch our bridges and roads collapse as they get old and rusty.

I came from a 12 hour vacation from Europe at Atlanta airport once with my wife and three month old baby and was threatened with arrest because there was leftover liquid formula in a baby bottle that my wife told them it was our last after spending more than 24 hours in airport and flight where you are only allowed 4 ounces of liquids in a container.

I've only been to one NFL game in person, didn't particularly enjoy the experience. Far from the action, couldn't follow the ball, no replays, no commentating, it was a really weird experience after watching it on TV for so many years. I wouldn't go to another game again, not even a Super Bowl, except maybe for an owner's box, not likely to happen anytime soon.
